Re: The 2019-20 NFL IR Thread
Added a bunch of names through 9/1 - the latter list eligible to return week 10; however, judging by the names I think most of them may be injury settlements.
There are now 209 players on Injured Reserve... that's an average of 6.5 players per team before we even play a regular season game.

Re: The 2019-20 NFL IR Thread
Big week for injuries, as you might expect, since all the PT is going to 45-man active rosters now.
- Ben Roethlisberger is down and the Big Ben era might finally be over. Rejoice as Neanderthal man returns to extinction.
- Speaking of which Sean Davis was also IRd - which may have contributed to the Steelers trading for Minkah Fitzpatrick. They're ready to roll with Mason Rudolph; I just don't think he's any better than average.
- Underrated IR: the Chargers lost Adrian Phillips. This on top of losing Derwin James in the preseason, really weakens the back end of their defense. They aren't as good as they were last year.
- OT woes: Isaiah Wynn goes down for the second season in a row in New England, and that's a shame because he was a really good prospect whose career is now teetering due to injury. Miami loses the LT they traded for to replace the LT they traded away (Julie'n Davenport).
- Derrius Guice is IRd for the second season in a row too. Oh well, I certainly don't feel bad for the Washington franchise.
- Speaking of Washington, Minnesota loses Josh Doctson one week after picking him up.
- Finally there's the Trevor Siemian injury. Ouch. Luke Falk was a guy I kind of liked as a mid-round QB; I don't think he's much worse than Siemian, but the Jets still need Sam Darnold to recover from mononucleosis. This is what QB troubles look like.
----
Non IR injuries are piling up too, which are hurting some franchises a big deal. Saints are without Drew Brees. Panthers are without Cam Newton. The Eagles had to cancel practice altogether with so many people hurt. Tyreek Hill, AJ Green, Xavier Woods, David Njoku all out multiple weeks.

Re: The 2019-20 NFL IR Thread
Time for an update.
At least 20 more names are added to the IR list with less than 24 hrs before Sunday games start. Not many huge losses, however Keanu Neal (achilles) goes down for the second straight season.
Two significant injuries for the Browns in their upcoming game vs the Ravens: TE David Njoku, and LB Christian Kirksey.
Fewest IRs to date (2) - Chicago Bears
Most IRs to date (11) - Atlanta Falcons, Houston Texans
The Ravens just added their fifth.

Re: The 2019-20 NFL IR Thread
Season-ending injuries are finally slowing down, though we have two large losses on the DL - Bradley Chubb and Kawann Short will not be going to the Pro Bowl this season. Also John Ross who was finally looking good for the Bengals is on IR again, poor guy.
That said, since teams are in the thick of the season they try to avoid the IR now, so we have a lot of 4-8 week type injuries. Mitchell Trubisky. Malik Hooker. Eric Fisher. Hunter Henry.
As players break, we see new names emerge on the scene... for example, QB Kyle Allen who is 2-0 with the Panthers, both games on the road. Or Packers WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling, who suddenly finds himself WR1 after Davante Adams went down.

Re: The 2019-20 NFL IR Thread
newest IRs include Brynden Trawick of the Ravens, and promising rookie WR Jalen Hurd of the Niners.
Also the Patriots' kicker Stephen Gostkowski, one of the best of his generation, replaced by FA veteran Mike Nugent. Time will tell if that makes any difference.
