The media love affair with Baker reminds me of an old saying......fattening frogs....for the snakes

Big tuna had a basic rules. Draft no qb who did not start three or more years, four the best. Draft no qb who has not won 30 games. His point was to eliminate the one year wonders and to have a large enough body of work to see what you have. He wanted to see a improving progression of a qb who got better over time. And finally he wanted a qb who completed more than 60% of his passes because he understood you can not teach accuracy. That was a lesson Brian learned the hard way about a qb who just never got more accurate as he played.

The Giants are going to find out if the see rules still hold true.

Wouldn’t that thought process also eliminate Lamar?

One of the reasons I do not understand why Kyler was regarded as so much a better prospect than Lamar.

There's a lot about that that does not compute, if you really dig into it.

    Yes, absolutely.

The refined version of Tuna's rule of thumb was >=58%. That was based on some advanced analytics thing I read, maybe last year.
    (Before we drafted LJ.)

Tuna's number is really close to that. It's a decent rule if thumb.

Kyler is a better passer but at the same time his supporting cast was stacked.
