Re: Outside Perspective & Theories of New Ravens Offense
I think we should have the expectation it’s going to take a while to gel.
We have 8 big pieces that are rookie and sophomore players.
Lamar
Boykin
Brown
Hurst
Andrews
Hill
Edwards
Offenses have young players don’t get me wrong. But that’s a lot of guys."Cause if you ain’t pissed off for greatness, that just means you’re okay with being mediocre, and ain’t no man in here okay with just basic.”

Re: Outside Perspective & Theories of New Ravens Offense
Im confused 🤷 You seem to agree with me. And I’m not judging Lamar’s skill set from 7 games. His skill set is his skill set. His production will change. And players with Lamar’s skill set don’t come out every year. They are hard to find.
As far as the Russell rookie stats comp...we agree.

Re: Outside Perspective & Theories of New Ravens Offense
Nothing in the original post said anything about percentage of running plays Ed. You’re the one who’s distilling it down to that.
The idea of the sea change in NFL offensive philosophy goes far beyond how many run v pass plays are called during a game.

Re: Outside Perspective & Theories of New Ravens Offense
10, counting Orlando Brown & Ben Powers.
On the one hand, that's totally true.
On the other hand, we could start the first series in Miami with no rookies on the field, and three 2nd-yr players:
Stanley
J Hurst
Skura
Yanda
Zeus Deuce-Y2
Boyle
Mandrews-Y2
Chris Moore
Snead
Ingram
Lamar-Y2
I'm not saying that's our best 11 (I'm sure it isn't). But I am saying that they've given themselves some options. That would probably be a reasonable, avg to low-avg offense – say in the #15 to 20 range. Better than we were in the first half of last season.
That's enough to win some games with (paired with this defense), while the rookies get acclimated.
The Ravens are in a position to pick their spots with the rookies, ease them in over the first quarter of the season. Grab a big play here & there, but not have to live with the every-down mistakes and unevenness that come with rookies. Use the steadier, experienced players to close out games, or march for a FG in the 2-min drill at the end of the first half, or whatever.
Not saying that's what's gonna happen. I think the younger guys are going to get a ton of snaps. But the Ravens have positioned themselves well to have some insulation from rookie ups & downs.
