Yeah, it's just not based in reality. The extremely liberal side of the party is not going to win you the election and that to me seems to be what people like Sanders and Warren are banking on. They are trying to appeal to what has become a vocal minority. To have a chance to win in 2020 Dems have to capture the moderate and independent voters in places like PA and Ohio, and the policies Warren and Sanders put out are NOT going to do that. As I believe John Delaney said, someone like that being the nom, it's gift wrapping the election for Trump.

100% it just isn't going to resonate.

The thing about Biden is he doesn't say a lot. He's got the personality that I think people will like and he has the experience of being so close to office, so that shouldn't be an issue. But I still haven't heard him say a heck of a lot.

ANd you probably won't. Nobody puts their foot in their mouth better than Biden

I think Biden’s main problem within the party will be voter enthusiasm. Similar in some ways to Hilary, although nowhere near as toxic. I think most Dems ‘like’ him, but I don’t know how many are excited by him.

It may get the far left side of the party fired up but it won't play in a general election.

I have the same complaint I did about the first debate, which is having people like John Delaney and Marianne Williamson up there, who have no shot of winning the nomination, is a real joke. Takes time away from the candidates who may actually win the nomination. On the next election cycle, there needs to be more stringent requirements to be in these debates. Having 10 candidates talking over each other all night, when there are 2 or 3 out of the group that have any realistic chance of the nomination, is fucking stupid.

Nomination is still Biden's to lose.
Agree 100%. Although Tulsi has a decent platform for the left. She’s not all the way Socialist.

I didn't watch the debate but heard Mueller wasn't brought up at all after 2 plus years of investigation and the Democrats still trying to keep it alive. Was there any questions about abortion?

    I didn't watch it, but I doubt it. They're all pro-choice.

Oh, I know but wondered if they would have the nerve to ask them if they all believe in full term abortion. I'm sure it won't be asked by CNN, MSNBC etc. in the General election debate either.

Went to bed at 10 and I can't recall any question about abortion, but there isn't really much to discuss for them there, as NCRAVEN said, since they are all going to be pro-choice. I don't think they really touched on any women's rights stuff, per a Tweet I saw from Gillibrand.

I don't see why they would have discussed anything Mueller related. These debates are for policy and position. Mueller stuff won't come up, if it ever does, until the candidate is locked in and it's a debate with Trump. For example, Hillary's e-mails were not a point of discussion at the debates between her and Bernie last cycle.

    First ....welcome to the Board.
    Second .....welcome to The Lid!

Since you’re from outside the US ....would you maybe be willing to start a thread about politics in Sweden and any other European counties you’re aware of? There has been discussion in The Lid about other countries politics and how they work vs our system. If not that’s cool. I think you’d find a very welcome vibe if you do. Most guys here do wanna discuss and learn. They are pretty tied to their beliefs though! Lol.

What would be most helpful would be if you touted actual policies you disagree with. Cause honestly a decent amount of people down here would say they don’t like trumps personality (not a big fan myself) but his policy decisions have been pretty good.

That´s only true to some extent. The same as they didn´t like W Bush etc. But Trump is just something else. He says more awful, rude and downright mind boggeling things in a day than even Reagan did in his life...
Well, I dislike his immigartion policies, leaving the Paris Agreement is a disgrace (even if it wont affect as much since most major states and companies are already on board with cutting emissions etc), abortion policies, constant flirting and refuing to stand against racists and nazis for starters. But this thread seems to have gotten back OnT, so we can drop it here me thinks.
