Re: Be Careful What You Wish (Campaign) For
Now there are always personal exceptions, but if someone is relying on a lifetime job that pays minimum wage, it's not the government's job to subsidize their lack of motivation/skill set to earn a decent living. The individual needs to have a plan for the future and not be content with a minimum wage job their whole life. And this doesn't include jobs like waiters and waitresses and similar because these jobs can be fairly lucrative when including tips. Plus these jobs sometimes have the benefit of flexible hours, location mobility and the ability to seek working in nicer restaurants where the tips are normally higher. That's how they can get a pay raise and not rely on the government for a pay raise.

Any idea what the US Military makes? My brother in law works at a facility that treats people battling cancer. One of the patients used to be a guard at the Tomb of the Arlington National Cemetery many years ago. Tomorrow, he is going to give us a special tour of the Cemetery, including the changing of the guard, where the guards and he stayed and who knows what else where he has special access. Should be pretty interesting. Looking forward to it.

E1 with less than 2 years makes $1640/month, before taxes. So, a little over 20k.
$9.69/hr

Now the bid is $20/hour. Do I hear $25? Going, going, your job is gone.

This is true and mostly due to huuuuuuge tax. And in Sweden the only place to buy alcohol to take home are a chain of shops all owned by the State. Your cash goes straight to the government
I am Come back. I must say though the USA took St Patricks day and make it far bigger than the anything we have here. Yes there are parades and partying but not on the US scale.
Welcome, welcome. All of Ireland watched it too as an Irishman won it :)

$3.15/hour plus tips. However, with Credit Cards being used for most payments, all the tips are pretty much recorded and paid on paychecks. My employees make $3.15/hour.... they average $15/hour take home pay. If we paid them $15/hour, I'd close the doors... We wouldn't make bills any longer. Even with one full timer... or, I'd still allow tipping and not give any to my employees... so take your pick.
