Watch the gifs posted. Burns went up against some big boys in the ACC and was a menace. He didn’t set records but he’s disruptive and relentless in pursuit. One gif shows his open field closing speed.

For comps ..Suggs was 6-3 at 266lbs at the combine. He’s don’t pretty well.

Honestly I am not advanced enough to have a grading point system... but traits I look for are what you would expect. If he's hands down, does he beat his man consistently? I'm looking for hands, moves, leverage. After that, the quick burst ability and finally the ability to actually tackle. I'll get into Winovich's leverage specifically once I post the gifs hopefully tomorrow (later today).

2-point stance, you need more speed and agility because you're typically getting a running start at the OL. I want OLBs that can chase guys down and tackle, but also stay in the moment so they don't overextend or miss an assignment.

Regardless of position, I want guys with football IQ. The best defenses are a cohesive unit. What the Ravens did this past year scheme-wise under Wink was really damn impressive. They may have outperformed their talent, believe it or not.

kind of a rip move, beats the OT and forces incompletion

wins leverage; bull rush followed by a pull/rip throws a larger OT than him to the ground

bull rush here, in the process of pushing OT into the QB leading to a short completion

speed rip, not great bend, gets there but Winbush makes a play

    cross field TFL

blows by OT, nice professional step-up by Winbush negates the pressure and Winovich and Rashan Gary tackle each other

bull rush pushes OT back, if the run went that way, 6 yard loss

great contain on the read option here w/ #12 Josh Ross

bull rush to a rip move, very nice. Again, leverage.

look how soon he recognizes the throw back... gets there in time but outmaneuvered in space

ND makes 4th and inches but still, look at that leverage man, moves TE #84 across the OL

only a matter of time. signature rush and rip.

again diagnoses the throw back, again can't get to the WR.

dip and bend attempt brings pressure - nice but not elite

good job OT with the take down (holding?) but Winovich keeps hustling

broken record. Leverage. Bull rush. Shed. Pressure. Result, INT.

showing off play strength. Emerging like a baby animal from the egg for the tackle.

OT sits expecting the bull rush and Winovich runs around him.

leverage translated to play strength, again.

look at him adjust his hips at the snap to get a good tackling angle on the RB

Re: 2019 PASS RUSH Draft Thread

    VERDICT

Chase Winovich is good. He came to the combine at 6'3", 256 lbs. At that size he is extremely good at getting down and creating leverage. Excellent hands. He is a bull-rush specialist who uses his hands, feet and leverage to push and rip. Looks relentless. High NFL floor. Not so sure about his ceiling.

Unless something bad happens this guy is going to be an NFL starter. His fit with the Ravens would definitely be at RUSH as he should be near the LOS and not an out-in-space OLB.

I'd draft him late Rd 1 / Rd 2. And this is in a potentially great pass rush class.

    Next, per request, Maxx Crosby.

Winovich and Crosby are two guys I like in the 3rd.

So it's totally reasonable to expect the 14th graded DL to possibly be around at 22.

You clearly don't understand the draft.

WNC, this is amazing stuff. If it's not too late to put in requests, I'd love to get your thoughts on Joe Jackson, Anthony Nelson, and/or Carl Granderson.

Also, is anyone doing similar breakdowns for other positions?
