Thread: Hogan for Prez?

  1. Hogan for Prez?

I see the Gov is mulling a run for the White House. I have to admit I don't know much about him....

Hogan is a very popular republican governor in the dark blue state of MD just starting his 2nd term. He was a former businessman. He runs a very good campaign. He is not a Trump supporter, for sure. I would categorize him as a moderate and for the most part his hands are tied due to having to deal with mostly democrats wherever he looks. He has managed to deflect most of the touchy topics to remain popular. He did say no to Maryland becoming a sanctuary state, even though it is. I don't think I could vote for him and doubt he would have much of a chance in 2020, IMO.

I think his Cancer scare would keep him from running. He def wouldn’t beat Trump for the GOP nom. He’s too moderate for the heavy GOPers.

Fun fact on Hogan...he has a 100 yr old family recipe for Moonshine. Lol. He’s made some ( according to him). He’s a really regular guy. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting him several times.

I had heard of him, just by he being a Republican and getting elected there. Didn't the last (Dem) he ran against have some issues? Is that why/how he got elected, by default? And yes, either way, he's got no chance against Trump, unless something changes. It's good to get some insight from Maryland folks. I was born and raised there, but have not lived there for over 20 years.

Actually, the reason Hogan won was that the previous governor was Martin O'malley, who taxed the living shit out of Marylanders and they didn't want 4 more years of the same shit from his Lt Governor Anthony Brown who ran a terrible smear campaign against Hogan. He came across as a jackass. As Lax mentioned, Hogan came down with cancer not too long after he took office and his popularity rose during his fight with cancer. He is learning now how petty the Democrats are these days because they are now trying to change an executive order he made a couple years ago to move the start of school back to after Labor day. Something like 75-80% of the citizens are in favor of the later start but that won't stop the Democrats from killing it just because they can

I know right? Who really wants school to start before Labor Day? Teachers...Nope. Parents ...No! Students...hell no. Just the Demonrats. It’s like casinos. When Erhlich brought up the idea it was “oh Hell No!” Man Martin Spend-mally wasn’t in office a minute and they wanted gambling!

He ran against Ben Jealous - a guy from PG county who loved playing the race card and pandering to identity politics.

Hogan definitely comes off as more of a straight-shooter and I think, in general, he is a guy who democrats don't have any major issues with.

I seriously doubt he runs in 2020. I'd be shocked if he doesn't run in 2024.

I mean we voted for Trump for body-slamming McMahon. Slamming Andre the Giant should get Hulkster at least three terms.
