Re: Back up Plan if Lamar doesn't work

Backup plan is simple. Draft somebody else. They need to give him 3-4 years. You don’t give up on first round picks quickly. For gods sake we kept Perriman forever before giving up on him. At least LJ is active every week.

As to backup qb RG3 should be enough. Give him a three year contract for a reasonable salary. It’s not like he has had 30!teams chasing him with handfuls of money.

why? technically all they invested was a 2nd round pick. If ravens finish with a top 10 pick next year, I could absolutely see them drafting another QB.

Easy, RG3 (assuming he wants to return), draft a QB with similar skill set and pickup some UDFAs for the practice squad.

How often does that happen especially with the Ravens. They stuck with Kyle Boller through his rookie contract.

I don’t think the cost means much. They really believe in Lamar Jackson. You don’t bench your QB and then trade him unless you are all in on his replacement? Can that change? Absolutely but it’s going to take a lot of losses for that kind of panic to set in.

If the Ravens win 3 or 4 games next year with a healthy LJ who isn’t playing well then they might consider a new direction. If it’s 7 to 9 wins then it will still be about getting the right pieces around Jackson. Wins will be the determining factor

...you can also say what happens if LJ starts out bad and the scenario is sort of like happened with Flacco... say LJ plays and the record after 6 games is won 1 and lost 5..and then gets hurt and is out 4 weeks recovering and in the meantime RG3 comes in and wins those next 4 games and in a convincing style... do you then put LJ back in at that point in hopes he would get better playing wise or do you allow RG3 to be the starter at that point especially if the players are behind him 100%.... as he would then be our best hope to reach the playoffs...

Missing out on Aaron Rodgers should be a lesson that will last with our front office forever and make us be willing to cut ties sooner with a player.

If that was the criteria we would be on our 4th QB since 2012

He would have to absolutely bomb next year for them to start looking that fast. He will get at least 2 years. If he improves a bit 3 or 4.

Can’t draft or just pick up a back up. Only so many QBs can run The Veer. RG3 should be priority number one for FAs resigned.
People saying “they won’t give up on Lamar after next year “ or how will they know are right. But ...if the Ravens go under .500 next year with a healthy Lamar ...2020 will be his AND Harbecklers’ Swan Song. Those two are now tied to the hip. Lamar is what saved Harbs and he can be what kills him. Back to back sub .500s or just one and a non serious playoff season ..I think both are gone. New HC , new coaching staff and that HC and EDC pick the “new “ QB.
