Re: Gillette Commercial
Meh. I kinda liked the message.
Masculinity is a major reason for the high death by suicide rate among middle aged men.
I have no issue with redefining that.
I do get a kicked out of people who boycott products and say the company is going to collapse. Sure as shit never happened to Nike the way people said it would."Cause if you ain’t pissed off for greatness, that just means you’re okay with being mediocre, and ain’t no man in here okay with just basic.”

Re: Gillette Commercial
I'd like to know too.
Redefining what? What masculinity is? Is that what the ad was about, that masculinity is sexually harassing women or being rough as kid?
In this era of technology our memories are as short as our attention span.

Re: Gillette Commercial
There's a new commercial from Gillette about toxic masculinity.
While I agree that the overall message is a good one like GWNR said, I don't quite understand why men are the only ones who seem to be grouped with the worst of offenders. For example, if there was a commercial telling Muslims to not bomb things as if it were inherent to their being, it would be wrong, since we know that the majority of muslims have no care or wish to bomb anything although there are enough bombers that it is an issue.
When Trump mentioned that Mexico was bringing it's rapists, murderers, ect...was it true? yea probably, but we know most people didnt like it because he generalized most Mexicans in that sort of behavior when we know that 98% of those who come over are legitimitaly just looking for menial work.
Now going back to the commercial, I just feel like we as men know that most men have no desire to bully, rape, or harass women an so I guess it's hard feeling like I'm wrapped in with the worst of behaviors.
Am I being over sensitive or not sensitive enough?

Re: Gillette Commercial
This is what I am confused about as well. When the term boys will be boys was said, I feel like it generally meant that boys will always do dumb stuff like try to jump off stuff, wrestle randomly, and just generally do things that test the limits of our strength and so forth when our parents would rather have us be less rambumctious like the girls. I don't remember it being associated with doing horrible things to women.
