Will Flacco's # Be Retired By the Ravens?

    Just as the question poses.

    Ring of Honor yes.

    Number retired... no.

    I'd rather reserve that for HOF'ers and HOF'ers in waiting like 75, 52, 20, and perhaps 55.

No that type of thing is reserved for Hall of Fame players, and even sometimes not even then. Are 52, 75, and 20 technically retired? I know we've never had one since. If things go as planned, would 73, 55 and 9 be retired? I sort of doubt you can reasonably retire all 6 of those numbers, and those guys are all hall of fame virtual locks in my mind.

We don't currently have any retired numbers at all so no. Can't retire it before Ray, Reed and Ogden.

I mean, there are only 99 numbers. I think retiring a number might be more selective than HOF. But Ray Lewis man. Talk about a trancendent elite franchise defying player. He's meant as much to this franchise as any player for any team. If his number isn't retired, nobody's should be. He is to this day the image of the Baltimore Ravens.

Those number may not be officially retired, but they definitely seem to be on some sort of reserve. 75, 52, 20 have not been used at all since the men who made them special retired.

Absolutely. I'm sure Lewis is coming, but I'm sure decades from now it might not be so crazy to see a 75 or a 55. I'm sure we'll go a long time without a 5 as well.

I don't disagree on 55. I say "perhaps" because he is not entered the selection process or even retired yet. But do believe Suggs should be first ballot. You just never know with those voters...
