Why would you IR a player whose pretty clearly better (and obviously they feel he’ll be back soonish since they haven’t put him on IR yet) to sign a player who can barely stick to any other teams practice squad?

That's what I'd like to see...Jones for Board or McClellan. I can see reasons for either release, but I can't see any reason to carry an extra ILB at the cost of having only 4 CBs.
