Re: Midterm Elections
Of course because it's all about winning.
Here's the thing with the Dem's these days...they're fooling everyone into thinking that they give a shit about the working man. They've got everyone convinced that they care about immigrants and black communities. Bull. Shit.
They don't give a damn about any of that and they're perfectly fine with pushing socialism as a teaser because A. it's never going to fly and they know that and B. even if the US did adopt some socialist aspects (which we do have some currently) it isn't going to impact them at all.
Dems and Reps stay rich. In all scenarios, they stay rich and in power.Disclaimer: The content posted is of my own opinion.

Re: Midterm Elections
It’s crazy, but I pine for normal liberals to speak up. Liberals who actually give a shit about Americans and want to help create jobs...not talk about how they hate the President and blab about policies in Venezuela being adopted here.
That old version of liberalism is soooooo dead. I think Trump killed it when he ended the Clinton dynasty. This radical, communist, socialist hateful ideology is all that remains and they are doubling down on it. I thought 2016 was bad. This is waaaaay worse.
I don’t know what’s gonna happen in Nov, but...I hope that most of America is smart enough to realize to NOT listen to the “Omarosa media” for guidance.

Re: Midterm Elections
I don't think there's much "normal" left right now on either side. American politics is getting more extreme. I'm not sure all the reasons why, but I can speculate a few:
- The House has too many candidates from gerrymandered districts where primary voters know they can elect more extreme candidates and still win.
- Lots of voters are refusing to register with a major party, leaving the primary elections up to a smaller and smaller portion of the electorate (in elections with closed primaries). But then those that register outside the two major parties mostly only vote for the major party candidates that they have no say in.
But I certainly hope Trump or socialism don't become normal.

Re: Midterm Elections
I disagree.
Only one political party is openly embracing socialism/communism and censoring dissenting voices while many of them are calling for violence.
I’ll name one. His name is Trump. The POTUS is fucking up their entire corrupt setup. He’s costing these assholes millions upon millions of dollars through immigration alone. The Koch brothers probably aren’t netting the money they used to.
Ever recall a US POTUS being compared to Hitler every. fucking. day????? Me either. There’s a reason the hate is at DEFCOM 100 levels on every news station...all day...every day.
Look at what Trump just did to John Brennan. For people like Brennan...with his access...I can only imagine how much $$$ he was making. Trump basically cut off his drug supply when he revoked his security clearance. Now MSNBC and the NYT will have to find another anonymous source for their hit pieces. These political demagogues like Brennan and Clapper and Comey...Trump is ruining their “retirement plans” and the “retirement plans” of ever future plutocrat that plans to game the system.
Trump has pretty much exposed all of these people and he’s probably changed politics forever.
IMO...that is what is at stake in November.

Re: Midterm Elections
Its interesting to talk about the party's bases. I think both are rebounding. Not sure if it was posted here or not but i remember reading an article describing the reactions of the losing party getting more and more extreme. I believe it connected that to the minorities of each, though vocal, and persisted that the true bases havent changed that much.
With the Dems it seems its two fold rebounding which may explain the extreme and sudden change, imo. Its not just that dems lost to trump, but bernie lost to HRC. I think thats worth keeping in perspective as well. HRCs base was still the majority of the democratic party voting wise, and her policies are far more moderate than most of her peers. Thats despite her being an awful human being that i literally dont know of anybody that was happy to vote for. We still have to see if that shift is real or the chirping of a vocal minority. Imo, theres just as many moderate/traditional liberals that cant stand the far left either.
Id expect after midterms for a lot of that noise to die down regardless of outcome. If they win more seats than i expect theyll feel safer and shut up. If they lose they wont have anything to look forward to until 2020.
Maybe thats wishful thinking.

Re: Midterm Elections
Sure, if you only want to look at one side through a critical lens. But Republicans elected a president who just validated Putin's lies about election meddling in a joint press conference, has basically said that if you get captured by the enemy you're not a war hero, demonizes immigrants by saying things like "They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people," made Steve Bannon his chief strategist, and has threatened military intervention in ... Venezuela?
And while many Republican voters didn't like the major party alternative they had in the general election, they had plenty of other choices in the primary. They chose Trump instead.
There's plenty of crazy to go around for both sides.
