    Ranking the Ravens 2018: #1

    Since the NFL is getting into the whole rankings thing over the summer, and we're approaching training camp / preseason, why not get a gauge on where people think the Ravens are strong... by player.

    Pretty simple. Vote for who you think the #1 Raven is going to be this season. The best player, or perhaps the most valuable player. I'll post 9 options plus "other" - please name the player if you select "other". Voting ends in two days. Let's see how many we can get in!

    #1 - Justin Tucker

    edit - 'scuse the typo on JIMMY Smith

    Suggs.

    Performance, leadership, only person who can represent what used to be the Ravens identity in the post Lewis/ Reed era.

    Tucker = MVP

    He's the only best at his position player the Ravens have

    The only answer to this question as asked is Tucker. He is leaps and bounds better at his position than anyone else on the roster is at theirs (respect to Yanda and Jimmy but they are coming off injury), and he's also likely their most valuable player too until we see them able to score TDs consistently.

    If it was more of a hypothetical, who "needs" to be their best player or MVP for them to be successful, then it's Flacco.

    Justin Tucker has never missed an extra point in his career. His career field goal percentage is 90.2% which is the best in the history of the NFL. Morten Andersen who just went into the HOF as a kicker never had a 90% FG% season and he spent years in the domes of New Orleans and Atlanta. Tucker has 4 of them already in his 6 years. Honestly we don't give this guy the credit he deserves.

    That % would be even higher if they hadn't have him try 47 50+w yard kicks (several 60+ IIRC) as they do. He's a legitimate HOF K, whether he gets in or not we'll see many years down the road, it'll obviously be tough given there's only 2 in there, but he's going to have the resume. Only 28 so probably has another 10-12 years.

    This is how I see it. In actuality, Tucker is likely the team's MVP, with an honorable mention to Suggs.

    The team really needs Flacco - and he needs himself, as you say - to step up and become the team's #1 player. But if we're talking real life ...yeah ...I'll stick with Tucker.

    Tucker, by miles.
