a ton of people lost followers. Oprah lost over a million, Ellen DeGeneres lost over 2 million; I don't think she bought them. Shaq, Katy Perry, etc - millions.

They also purged followers who were inactive.

It's the percentage with Ray more than the number that's interesting. Obama lost 2.5 million but still has 101 million left. Percentage wise it's nothing like Ray lost

Ray Lewis only had a bit more than 700,000 'followers' anyway. It's not as if he was playing in the big leagues. 350,000 fake accounts purchased is 350,000 fake accounts purchased, no matter how many you have total. To me, losing 3 million out of 100 million is still a bigger deal, because it means you had 3 million fake accounts, and probably purchased them. That means Katy Perry probably purchased close to ten times as many fake accounts as Ray Lewis did.

I think hes an egomaniac, but I also wouldnt be surprised if his marketing team did this without his knowledge.

Didnt Yelp recently do an audit as well and found a whole bunch of fake accounts? People have too much time on their hands.

Just about everyone in entertainment, media and politics lost a big chunk of followers. Barack Obama and Justin Beiber both lost 3 million followers; same with Katy Perry. Heck, even the Pope lost 100,000 followers.

I lost two followers : my sister-in-law (when the $ dried up) and her unemployed boyfriend.
Since he's in the county lock-up, does that count too?

Yes, just about everyone lost some. The point, which seems to have been missed, was the % lost. Ellen lost less than 3%; Katy Perry less than 2%; Ray 50%.

Twitter’s own main account lost 12%.

I unfollowed Ray awhile back, just a useless follow. I can get the same inspirational quotes from any 16 year high school girl on Facebook. Just never thought he posted anything interesting
