I'm registered as an independent so I can actually vote for a D or an R in the primaries here. But I can only vote for one.

Oh word, different here. If you register (I) you cannot vote in the primaries (unless there was a primary (I) race, which is unlikely at this point)

Not a fan of closed primaries.

Primaries should be closed. It's ridiculous to allow a Republican to have a say in who the Democrat candidate should be. And it's ridiculous to allow a Democrat to have a say in who the Republican candidate should be.

I agree, but I also kind of understand. A group of R's or D's could get together to vote for the shittier opponent to secure a victory for their candidate.

This of course is much more likely in a local race rather than presidential.

I agree. While I can vote for either, I'd rather have a say in who I'm going to vote for for President than mess with the opponent.

As a Libertarian left out of the primaries I don't have an issue with it. Those who are registered party members should pick their nominee. Otherwise you can get stuff like me voting for Hillary! because she is a straw candidate unable to beat anybody with a pulse.

Hillary won't win, but find another winner.

    Go Bernie Sanders!

So in usa you have you register as democrat or republican and can only vote for that side?

Say for example you hated trump, you can't go vote clinton?

Whats your options, vote trump or not vote at all?
