Lamar Jackson is already apparently rated higher than Flacco in the new Madden

    http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/b...703-story.html

With a 79 overall rating in “Madden NFL 19,” first-round draft pick Lamar Jackson is the second-best rookie quarterback in the series’ coming installment, ahead of the Arizona Cardinals' Josh Rosen (78 overall), New York Jets' Sam Darnold (75) and Buffalo Bills' Josh Allen (74). Only Baker Mayfield (81), the Cleveland Browns' No. 1 overall pick, fared better.

Jackson might not project as consistent a passer in “Madden” as incumbent starter Joe Flacco — the rookie’s rating is boosted by elite speed and running skills — but he might already be rated higher overall, if not on the depth chart.

Flacco started last season as an 81 overall, only to fall to a 78. In early game footage, Flacco was down to 77. (That rating, of course, is subject to change, as Jackson is rated only a 67 in the same footage.)
So he's likely to be the default starter in Madden, or at least anyone who plays the team will switch to Jackson since he's rated higher. He also sounds like he'll be one of the most fun QBs to play in Madden history:

Lamar Jackson could be the most interesting QB to play as in Madden 19. If you sim a lot of games in Franchise, he’s likely not the best pick at the moment. But holy hell, his base ratings make him fun. The stud athlete clocks a 91 Speed, making him not only the fastest QB in the game, but the only one who breaks 90 in that category. He also sports a 93 Ball Carrier Vision, an 86 Spin, 89 Juke, and 94 Throw Power. His accuracy scores (83 Short, 80 Mid, 74 Deep) can lead to some wild throws, but his running scores can also lead to several easy first downs after escaping the pocket. Watch out for this one.
If theres one thing the Ravens have got going for themselves now is that they'll be a top tier Madden team.

Speed for QB's is insane for Madden overall ratings. That's the only reason Lamar is so high as a rookie.

I think they will now that the Ravens aren't one of the most boring teams to play, like they have been for at least a decade. I haven't bought a Madden in the last few years but I will now with Lamar Jackson making the team exciting to play again.

Boring?! How dare you sir! I’ll have you know that the power I formation iso-left play with Alex Collins for five yards followed by the outs from the Ace two-TE set for two yards followed by a quick slant incompletion to Maclin/Perriman/Camp/Wallace/Moore was the most fun I’ve EVER had in a video game.

I was absolutely fucking SAVAGE at directional punting with Koch.

I actually got one of the rarest PS4 trophies in the game on last year’s Madden. It’s called “Fucking Futile” and it’s 3000 consecutive 3 and outs followed by a completed punt. Interestingly it was only unlockable with the Ravens but... still. Best gaming experience since CoD Infinite Warfare!!!

I could absolutely see Lamar Jackson being a better option than Flacco if your goal was to pick-up a control, and beat somebody online or in person... even against the CPU, especially if you weren't against cheesing. But that's using the assumption that when he gets hurt, you just move onto the next QB (who incidentally would be Flacco) and you don't deal with the repercussions of a hurt 1st round pick.

In reality, if we're trying to give these guys careers, we're either going to have to teach LJ how to play from the pocket to some degree, or just accept that he'll usually be hurt. Conversely, Flacco doesn't have to get hurt much, and could potentially have a 15 year career because he's boring and plays from the pocket.

Think about how Michael Vick was a 95 in Madden '04 and made the Falcons a top choice to play as, but was probably by no means a top 5 QB in the preceding season in reality.

We're still claiming Jackson doesn't know how to play from the pocket? I thought that was debunked within a few days of the draft.

    WOW-WEE!!!

Just hand Harbaugh a Playstation controller and the Ravens could be Super Bowl champions.
