I am not one who follows hockey by any means, but I did watch most of the Caps playoff games. My question; Is the hockey eastern conference far superior to the Western conference, the complete opposite of the NBA where the West is superior to the east? To me, the LV Knights did not seem to be a championship caliber team. They rarely ever won a face off and were pretty sloppy with the puck at times. They rarely even got a shot on goal during their power plays. Plus the Caps seemed much hungrier and more physical. The eastern conference teams seemed to give the Caps a lot more trouble. Thoughts?

the east has tamnpa, wash, pitt, boston who are real contenders

the west has nashvilkle winnipeg who were real contenders

im not sure where vegas is/was but prob the 3rd team in the west.

the 4 east teams are much better than the west teams

The East as a whole is better imho. The Pens, Rangers , Bruins, Caps , Tampa are more physical than most teams in the West. Even teams like the Devils, Islanders and Columbus are better than most teams out west. To me Vegas caught lightning in a bottle with having hungry guys and a top shelf goalie. Not a normal year at all for the NHL. No Red Wings or BlackHawks in playoffs.
