Would love to be able to walk into Horseshoe Baltimore or MGM National Harbor to legally place a few wagers.

Sports gambling has existed forever. Legal and illegal. It just makes sense to legalize it entirely. People are gonna do it if it’s through a legit casino or website or your local bookie. There will be no different except for the massive ratings boost the nfl and other sports are gonna get.

Side note ESPN has a state by state tracker of sports betting legislation. Maryland already has pending legislation on sports betting.

A Maryland initiative to put sports betting on the November ballot passed the House overwhelmingly but didn't get a vote in the Senate.

I also think it's ridiculous that the way they've legalized elements of gambling always has to go through a constitutional amendment process.

Meh, I don't really agree with gambling's place is a macro economy. I don't think that the activity really adds enough entertainment to justify the tax that it takes on the lower and middle income, and the addiction that it causes. However, like narcotics, I can buy the argument for its legalization due to the fact that people may do it anyway, but regulating it and taxing it takes it out of the hands of the mob and the black markets. I think its pretty silly how its only been allowed in one state for so long. If anything, it should either be allowed in any state, or in none.

I play home games of poker with friends for laughably small amounts of money ($10-20 buy-ins) and that's enough gambling for me. I can't bring myself to do it. I see gambling as paying a guy to take you out back and kick you in the nuts. Generally, you can find such services for free. The extend of gambling that I do is well balanced common stock based index funds.
