Lamar will definitely have to learn to protect himself. Hopefully he'll be like Russell Wilson and smartly avoid contact. But only time will answer that question.

Also, specifically on Run-Pass-Option plays the QB typically doesn't get exposed to excessive hits because the QB is only pulling the ball down to run after the defense commits to stopping the RB run or a Receiver pass option. That's the beauty of RPOs when schemed properly it puts the defense in a situation where they can't be right.

I think we agree that you shouldn't call read-option plays for Joe but I don't see why Joe couldn't be as effective as Foles when it comes to RPOs.

How often did Foles take off running when the Eagles called RPOs though?

IF they decide to go with Lamar they should spend the bye week installing a playbook catered specifically to Lamar Jackson. That is the best way to allow Lamar to lift the stagnant offense.

Well of course that would be the playbook and with the bye week its the perfect time to do it.
