Jefferson better start playing out of his mind.
Based on my understanding of NFL contracts:

Before the restructure we could have cut Jefferson in 2019 and saved $5M against the cap with $6M in dead money. We could have cut him in 2020 and saved $7M against the cap with $3M in dead money.

After the restructure we can cut Jefferson in 2019 and save ~$3.3M against the cap with ~$9.4M in dead money. We can cut him in 2020 and save $7M against the cap with ~$4.7M in dead money.

If this is clearing room for a free agent, I really don't like this move. By all means, try to be competitive, but don't start pushing dead money into the LJ era to chase one more ring with Flacco that we almost surely won't win.

Agree. I don't like this restructure and am not really sure what they have in mind with it.

At least we know it's not being done for Nick Mangold.

Gentlemen, I'll make this a three-some. This looks like the same-old-same-old, so I hope DeCosta isn't exactly walking in Ozzie's footsteps. Don't push dead money into the LJ era!

He's the only RB out there that makes any sense to me, and that's the one spot besides ILB that they could clearly need an addition. However I don't think he would be that expensive and wouldn't require the Jefferson restructure.

Not with Mark Thompson signed. This guy will turn some heads and will compete for playing time on this team.

If it is for Dez, it would be pretty clear they are going all-in to see if Flacco is still capable of leading the Ravens on a deep playoff run. If he does, he earns another year at the helm. If not, the LJ era begins.

Speaking of drunk Madden style, have you heard of Lamar Jackson?

This is totally what I picture, except substitute Lamar for Bo...
