    are cutting bait on a guy that's a poor scheme fit...

    I read something to the effect of him not fitting Wade Phillips scheme, and they expect him to fit in much better with NYG. Im not familiar enough with either to really comment. They expect him to be utilized extensively for pass rushing on blitzes

    They have Goff under team control through 2020. They have at least two years before they even need to think about an extension. You'd think someone covering the team would know that.

    The final point about them needing draft capital after all they gave away is very valid though, and probably a big reason they made the trade.
