    Calvin Ridley

Ok most mocks have us taking Ridley at #16 but is he the kind of receiver we want at 16? Supposedly he's 6'1" at 190 lbs. Out of the games I've watched he's never really popped off the screen and his season stats to me don't look all that special. The Ravens shouldn't be getting a smaller route runner at receiver in the first round. Someone like James Washington/Courtland Sutton should be the pick. They're the big possession/speed threats we need immediately. It seems you could find those route runner guys like Ridley later on so why spend a pick early now? Am I just missing something on Ridley? Per ESPN this is Ridley's stats for this past season:

Washington- 6'0" 205 (edit: just noticed Washington is shorter, but to me he popped off the screen and made contested jump balls easily)
    Sutton 6'4" 216

    Re: Calvin Ridley

Hed probably become our best route runner but that isn't saying much. Hands can be shaky and hasn't got a great deal of size. I asked some draft gurus on this board about him a while back, and they aren't very high on him.

    Re: Calvin Ridley

Ridley will struggle in the pros. He has no chance unless he's wide open. You can do that in college given the time a QB has to throw and the speed differential vs. defenders. That just doesn't happen that often in the pros. I see Travis Benjamin in Ridley which is okay but certainly not 1st round.

Typical overthinking that occurs with big name prospects. He's legit. Watch the tape. Comp is Michael Thomas mixed with Emmanuel Sanders. It's simple guys.

He has no ability to make contested catches. He hasn't shown any heart at the WR position.
    Burn it down

The thing that bugs me is that if he's such a lock as a prospect why isn't he feasting on those no name schools listed above in his stats as well as showing up for big time games. Against Auburn he was 3-38 with his longest being a 26 yard catch. In the Championship game even he was 4-32 with only a TD. Against SEC teams he's averaging 67 yards a game. If he's a badass prospect wouldn't he be feasting over everyone?

Ridley is a monster. People need to remember that his quarterback the past two seasons was Jalen hurts who just got pulled in the national championship because he can't throw.

Exactly. That's why so many of us wanted JuJu last year. He's the opposite. The speed isn't great but that skill set is built for the NFL. When you look at the rookie corners this year like Humphrey and Lattimore and White what they all have in common is a physicality to their play. You need receivers that can compete against those kind of corners. The John Ross types with all that speed and dancing moves are not going to do it anymore.

That's a convenient excuse to hide behind. Lots of college WR have bad QB's throwing to them. Calvin Johnson had Reggie Ball throwing to him at Georgia Tech and he still managed to put up 1,200 yards and 15 TDs.

Travis Benjamin is a good comparison. Could be Benjamin, could be Sanders.

IMO he's volatile and that makes me want to stya away form him. I want a high floor WR.

lol Calvin Johnson?? Anyways it's an excuse but it's valid. Alabama is a running offense who's quarterback can't throw. Of course his stats aren't going to be crazy. Common sense. His QB literally just got pulled because HE CANT THROW and he caught a TD right after.
