Watching The Agency with Fassbender, so far it's fantastic.

Re: OT - The Movies/TV thread
Finally watched the 70s horror flick "When A Stranger Calls' -- the movie famous for line, "The call is coming from inside the house."
Disjointed.
Compelling first fifteen minutes with Carol Kane as the babysitter tormented by an anonymous caller. THIS should have been the movie.
Instead, the movie makes an abrupt turn into catch-em crime drama. Not a thriller. Not a thriller because there aren't many thrills when your bad guy spends the middle of the movie emasculated and defanged. During some moments the audience will feel sorry for him.
The conclusion clumsily picks up where the beginning ended: a return to a now married and mothering Carol Kane. Jump scares that could have been effective are instead emotionally hollow because the audience is pondering the movie's ham-fisted return to Kane's character rather than threat Kane is now facing.
When A Stranger Calls -- had the movie stuck with the Kane theatre/play setup then it could have been memorable like Dial M for Murder, Rope, Deathtrap, Wait Until Dark, or One of My Wives is Missing. Instead, it devolved into a forgettable crime drama with a memorable movie line. Missed opportunity for sure.

Re: OT - The Movies/TV thread
Watched American Primeval. It was very slow and mostly boring for me. Sprinkle in the predictability (to be expected with a historical piece) and a couple of eye rolling Romeo and Juliet moments, and I can say I personally don't recommend watching it. I've been seeing a lot of great reviews on social media, though, so don't take my word for it. Tis just my opinion of it.

Stumbled across Obliterated on Netflix. It's a special forces comedy that came out in 2023. Only 8 episodes so I'm assuming it didn't get picked back up for a 2nd season (unless it's a mini series and only lasted 8 episodes...I'm only on episode 6) It's a pretty funny watch. Kinda wish there were more seasons, but I can kinda see why it didn't get picked back up. It's worth watching if there's nothing else to help you pass the time.

Re: OT - The Movies/TV thread
Yeah I watched this. I enjoyed it, I love movies and series based in this era but it was a little slow.
Recently Watched Gladiator 2. I cannot remember who but someone said this movie was great.
It was awful. Denzel Washington acting was terrible, did not fit what so ever.
Denzel has turned into Liam Nieson. Every movie the acting is now 100% the same, and just repetative.
Not sure why or what happened, maybe age but damn its sad to see.
The story line, and characters just garbage. I thought It was a bad scifi channel movie.
They filled the coleseum with water, pirate shipes and sharks!. Yes that is 100% true. Just beyond dumb
How Ridley Scott thought this was agood idea is truly mind boggling.

Re: OT - The Movies/TV thread
I have been watching Landman with Billy Bon Thorton. Pretty good so far (4 episodes in.) I like the bulk of what Taylor Sheridan does. The guys has a knack for storytelling. Looking over his work, I think Yellowstone is actually lesser compared to the movie Sicario (1&2) as well as Tulsa King and Mayor of Kingstown (by far his best series - IMHO).
As I watch his other series, it becomes readily apparent in retrospect that Kevin Costner must have been a pain in the ass to work with.
