I am a huge move/tv fanatic, possibly my favorite thread over at BR.com was this thread, found some great shows because of others recommendations. So im gonna list some movies and TV shows, I need some new shows to watch, running out of stuff. I get bored late night at work. No order.

Brawl in Cell Block 99- Way better than I was expecting.
Wind River- Worth the watch, kind of slow
Green Room- pretty intense brutal violent film

TV Shows
Vikings- Such a great show, very underrated
Better Call Saul- duh
Mr Robot- Season 2 was disappointing, see how this goes with season 3 back
The Deuce- very interesting show about how the porn industry started, James Franco, im in
Ray Donovan- Great fucking show, this season has been very.....weird
Room 104- extremely odd show, each episode is different, meh
Black Mirror- another odd show, I love it
Game of Thrones- obviously
The Walking Dead- gives me something to watch, but its the same shit every year...im burnt out on it
Mindhunter- Story of how the FBI got into profiling with serial killers, great show
Narcos- yep
Mr Mecedes- detective retires and a case he couldn't solve torments him, good show
Westworld- just watch it
Homeland- definitely has lost its touch but I still continue to torture myself
American Vandal- A mockumentary like Making a Murderer, fucking fantastic and hilarious
Fargo- awesome
The Wire- classic
True Detective- Season 1 was possibly my favorite season of tv
The Sinner- worth the watch

Brawl in Cell Block 99- Way better than I was expecting.
Wind River- Worth the watch, kind of slow
Green Room- pretty intense brutal violent film

If you liked Green Room (one of my top 3 of last year), I'd definitely recommend Blue Ruin (by the same director). I'm pretty sure it's on netflix. It stars Macon Blair, who played the neo-Nazi that leads them to Patrick Stewart's house at the end in Green Room. Blair also wrote and directed I Don't Feel At Home in This World Anymore, which is a netflix production. I recommend it as well.

Wind River was written and directed by Taylor Sheridan, who also wrote Sicario and Hell or High Water. I think most everyone has seen Sicario, but Hell or High Water is actually my favorite of the three (and my favorite overall of last year). All the leads are great in it. Chris Pine and Ben Foster have really great chemistry. Lot of beautiful Texas landscapes too. I think it may be on Showtime, so if you have that, you can stream it from their app. If not, I think it's well worth a few bucks to rent.

Also, a bit older, but if you like Mindhunter, I think you'll like David Fincher's Zodiac. It's not about the killer himself as much as Robert Graysmith's (Jake Gyllenhaal) obsession with tracking him (them?).

Another great one from the past few years on netflix (that I think is under-watched) is Nightcrawler. Centered around another obsessive Gyllenhaal character, this one follows a perpetual hustler as he enters the world of independent videographers driving the streets of L.A. looking for nightly crimes to sell footage of to television news. It also has the late, great Bill Paxton and Riz Ahmed, who you may have seen in Rogue One and The Night Of.

I love Ex Machina! Alex Garland did that (he's written a lot of Danny Boyle movies, but also Dredd). He's got Annihilation coming out at the beginning of next year, which I'm pumped for. I think Dredd suffered a bit because (if I remember correctly) it came out right after The Raid. But I think they're both a lot of fun. Though The Raid's fight between Mad Dog and Iko Uwais (I can never remember his character's name) and his brother is next level awesomeness. The Raid 2 was fun also... particularly the girl who fights with hammers.

Speaking of hammer fights... have you seen the trailer for the upcoming Joaquin Phoenix movie You Were Never Really Here (not to be confused with the Phoenix faux-doc I'm Still Here)? It looks absolutely brutal. Probably physically and emotionally since the director also did We Need To Talk About Kevin.

I love everything Fincher. Seven, Dragon Tattoo, Fight Club, Zodiac, The Game... he's a guy who, if he's got a movie coming out, I'm gonna be there day 1.

Have you seen the Riz Ahmed movie Four Lions? It's British, made by Christopher Morris (who was Denholm Reynholm in season 1 of The IT Crowd). Basically it's a comedy about terrorism, which sounds outlandish, but it works. Its comedy I would say mirrors that of The Jerk, where you have rampant silly incompetence. But Riz manages to put heart in it and makes his character somewhat sympathetic, which is what I think makes it great. It's often on Amazon Prime or Hulu if you want to check it out.

I've not seen The Reluctant Fundamentalist. I'll definitely have to check that out!

And I won't hate! But if you haven't seen Dredd in a bit, I'd absolutely say watch The Raid. The basic set up of both is essentially the same, where you have a team of law enforcement battling their way up a ramshackle tenement building controlled by a drug lord. So if you've watched one recently, it feels a bit like you're watching the same thing over again. The main difference is guns (Dredd) vs martial arts + guns (The Raid).

I loved Arrival. It was taken from a short story by Ted Chiang, who from what I recall, writes tech manuals as a day job. So his fictional stories have this weird objective detachment going on, which I like just because it feels very different from most other fiction. I think that came across very well in the movie.

Did you ever see Sunshine? It's another space movie (also written by Alex Garland) that feels like it doesn't get its due.

Interstellar was indeed fantastic! I'll often put the soundtrack on in the office. Hans Zimmer wrote the music just based on ideas given to him. And they used this crazy ass church organ for the heightened space stuff and it's so intense!

Totally agree on Hell or High Water. Excellent movie. So was Sicario.

Movie wise, I’ll watch pretty much anything. Hard to say what my favorite is though. A huge guilty pleasure of mine is Stallone. Rocky is one of my all time favs. I guess now that I think about it, Jaws would be up there for me. Robert Shaw is the man.

TV Shows...
The Sopranos, IMO, is the greatest TV show ever made. Perfectly cast and perfectly written.
The Wire is my second favorite show of all time.

After that...
Entourage, Turn, Stranger Things was awesome, Narcos, Man in the High Castle, etc.

I’m also nerdy so I enjoy woodworking shows (amateur woodworker) like Norm Abrams and shit.

If you like those, Wind River is out next week for digital purchase, or two weeks after that for rental. Definitely recommend. The Sicario sequel, Soldado, is slated for release in June. I think the quote Sheridan had regarding it was something to the effect of, "It makes Sicario look like a romantic comedy."

As far as Stallone goes, I love Cobra. It's completely ridiculous and totally fun. At the same I think he gave a really effecting performance in Cop Land.

Man in the high castle was an awesome premise. Now that I don't have a baby in the room when watching TV, will need to give it a shot again. At that point it had too much dynamic range.

Definitely. Cobra, Copland, Rambo, Rocky...hell, I even enjoyed The Expendables.
