Sit or stand debate Part 69? Charlotte ugly scene may change your mind
I haven't seen a recent update to the ongoing decade long old argument about standing vs sitting stadium argument here, so here's to stir the pot.
In summary: "real" football fans stand up, at will, to support the Ravens. Generally oblivious to those behind them, and sometimes don't care even when asked to sit to stop blocking their view. "Sitters" bitch about standers blocking their view, often preferring to bitch than join the fun of standing. Hybrids stand on 3rd downs and goal line stands, only, or to celebrate TD's or INT's. Personally, I stand during 3rd down or goal line huddles, then sit when the huddle breaks to prevent disturbing those behind.
Stand vs. sit got ugly last night in Charlotte:
The man standing suddenly punches the man sitting in the face.
.... the man and woman were standing for the entire game and the man sitting behind them complained that they were obstructing his view.
.... Both men were wearing Panthers gear.
While the vast majority of standers don't pummel their fellow fans at Ravens games, this incident demonstrates how differences in fan etiquette can deteriorate into violence (especially at booze-assisted night games). I believe that sitters take precedence over standers by the Ravens "Fan Credo", which states:
Our goals are:
- Fellow fans who celebrate the Ravens and the NFL experience, but who do not interfere with other fans enjoyment of the game.
In a 2003 BBC poll that asked Brits to name the "Greatest American Ever", Mr. T came in fourth, behind ML King (3rd), Abe Lincoln (2nd) and Homer Simpson (1st).

If the guy in front of me stands, I stand, if he sits I sit unless everybody behind me is standing.
Standing the whole game is rude to the people behind you.

It was a Panthers fan sucker punching an Eagles fan. Video all over Twitter. He has been identified and will be prosecuted.

I totally thought this was another National Anthem thread.
