    OT: Fun Madden Thread

So, I just finished my 1st season in Madden 18 with the Ravens.

I must say, I really like the defensive controls a lot more in this version on Xbox 1 than the way they used to be. Rushing the passer is a lot better.

I went 11-5 and won the AFC North.
    Cleveland finished 2nd at 8-8
Pittsburgh finished 3rd at 7-9 (Roethlisberger got hurt midway through the season)
    Cinci finished last at 5-11

I lost in the AFC Championship game to Kansas City who went on to lose to Dallas in the Super Bowl.

    Christian McCaffery won OROY.
Myles Garrett (had 15 sacks) won DROY.

Roster moves I made early in the season:
Signed WR Jehu Chesson to the practice squad.
Woodhead got hurt and missed the last half of the season, so I moved Alex Collins up from the PS.
West got hurt at week 12 with a broken collarbone, so I put him on IR.
Starting OL was: Stanley, Yanda, Jensen, Bergstrom, Howard
Jaylen Hill got hurt in game 1 and I ended up IR'ing him.
I didn't switch Bowser's position, but to get him XP I ended up starting him at WILL over K. Correa.
Signed Christian Hackenburg to the PS.

    Stats:
    Joe Flacco: 3,766 yards, 26 TD's, 19 INT's, 58% completion.
    Terrence West: 1,051 yards, 8 TD's.
    Woodhead: 522 yards rushing, 390 yards receiving, 7 total TD's (5 rushing, 2 passing).
    Maclin: 58 receptions, 1,001 yards, 6 TD's.
    Wallace: 66 receptions, 873 yards, 8 TD's.
    Maxx: 44 receptions, 681 yards, 5 TD's.
    Perriman: 39 receptions, 522 yards, 3 TD's.
    Suggs: 9 sacks, 1 INT.
Judon: 13 sacks, 1 INT, 4 FF (Won DPOY).
    Mosley: 93 tackles, 4 sacks, 2 INT.
Humphrey: 3 INT's (3rd DB on my depth chart)
    Urban: 6 sacks
    B-Will: 5 sacks, 1 FF, 2 FR
Pierce: 2 sacks, 1 FR for a TD

After the season, Danny Woodhead and Ben Watson retired.

    I re-signed the following:
    Tim White
    Luke Bowanko
    Ryan Jensen
    Brent Urban
    James Hurst

    I signed the following FA's:
    FB, Anthony Sherman
    OT, TJ Clemmings
    LB, Anthony Walker Jr.
    FS, Calvin Pryor
    TE, Richard Rodgers

I drafted a RB, OT, OG, ILB, DE (edge rusher), and then traded my 2nd rounder for a 2019 2nd and 3rd rounder from Seattle. I also traded my 4th rounder for a 3rd rounder in 2019 (from LA Rams).

Oddly enough, Brady and Brees did not retire.

Brees, however, did sign with the Bears.

The Vikings traded Tedy Bridgewater to San Francisco.

Kirk Cousins re-signed with the Redskins.

    Larry Fitz signed with Dallas.

How is the draft process in 18? I know scouting and finding great players was fairly easy in 16 and much more difficult in 17.

I think it is a bit easier. And you get direct feedback.

"Good pick, you were picking 30th and you got a guy rated a 74 overall"

"You reached, you were picking 30th and you chose a guy with a 65 overall"

Oh I see. That's cool. I always enjoy playing franchise mode but haven't picked up the new game yet.

I still gotta pick up the new game, but I'll join in when I do.

I always said I'd do write ups last year, but I got lazy.

    Re: OT: Fun Madden Thread

    Couple of funny things happened...

I ended up restarting with the most updated rosters...

First season - Browns cut Jabril Peppers...so I sign him and just stash him.

I benched West midway through the season and went with Collins, whom fared well. I did not resign West after the season was over.

I drafted 2 backs, one in the first round.

Also signed Donte Moncrief, Anthony Sherman, and Nelson Spruce.

    Suggs, Woodhead, and Watson retired.

I moved Bowser back to ILB beside Mosley.

First game of pre-season in year two, Flacco gets hurt and I had to IR him. So, I’m sitting there with a rookie QB that I took in round 5 and didn’t really want.

So, I remembered I have Peppers...and I trade Weddle to the Bears for Trubisky and a round-2 pick. Weddle is 33 and I wasn’t going to keep him anyway. The Giants also drafted an early QB and cut Davis Webb, so I signed him too.

    QB’s
    Flacco (IR)
    Trubisky
    Webb
    Rookie on PS

I like Trubisky’s ability to roll out. He’s pretty quick in the game, but I miss the deep ball. I ended up switching offensive schemes to pistol, which works well for Trubisky.
