Playoff hopes about over.
With the 2 losses in Cleveland - it is almost time to stick a fork in them.

Started this for the 2017 season - but it is equally apt for the 2018 season at this point in time.

Re: Playoff hopes about over.
Maybe this time we'll actually get the #1 overall pick. Things have changed since the last time we were bottom feeders, with the 2012 CBA, you have that draft slotting bonus pool, so top tier players have an incentive to get picked top, and generally sign with the bottom feeding team who picks them. So if we get a few years of suckage, we should have a few stars again in a few years. Maybe this time, we'll prioritize starting pitching and guys who get on base instead of relief pitching, sluggers, and guys who can't get walks.

Baseball Draft is 10 times the crap shoot that the NFL draft is. #1 Pick doesn't guarantee that the right pick will be made and even if made, that the talent will be developed to the Major League superstar level. And then when you draft and develop a Manny Machado - what do you have, especially if you don't want to or can't pay the going rate for that talent.
