I knew several jahovis witnesses that don't stand for the anthem. I don't know why I never asked, but I doubt it's because they hate America

Re: The Politics Surrounding Collin Kaepernick

This thread is still alive after it's obvious that the Kaepernick has been fully blackballed and out of the NFL for good?

This morning I went to Fort McHenry prior to the O's game. About 50 visitors, including many damn Yankee fans - every one of them - stood up with hand or hat over heart at the end of the video explaining the history the Star Spangled Banner and singing along. It was quite moving to see the most disrespectful baseball fans in the US behaving as true patriotic Americans, while spoiled brat Kaepernick not only gets away with disrespecting our flag and our police, and supporting an evil Latin American dictator (at last he gets away with this crap via American lefty media).

I am ecstatic that an NFL owner chose a mediocre journeyman such as Osweiler to fill the Denver back-up position over admitting the Kaepernick circus. No Kaepernick to pinch-hit for concussed Tyrod, either. Tannehill, Flacco, etc: blacklisting Kaepernick is obvious, and the right move.

The fake new media again chose the wrong horse to bet on. Kaepernick is done!

Thanks. Now you have provided me more ammo for slamming the door on the Jehovah nuts who invade my property.
In a 2003 BBC poll that asked Brits to name the "Greatest American Ever", Mr. T came in fourth, behind ML King (3rd), Abe Lincoln (2nd) and Homer Simpson (1st).

Maybe it's because their loyalty is to God, not America, and they consider it showing worship to a different power? Akin to in the book of Daniel where four of the Jews are thrown in a furnace for refusing to worship the statue of the Babylonian king.

This is pure speculation on my part though.

Well, there is good reason why Kap and Ray Rice are not on any team in the NFL anymore. Even Trump destroyed Kap in a speech in Alabama yesterday.

    Edit: spelling correction

Trump and all his phony ass racists friends are a joke and they are going to destroy the league! As someone has said earlier, jehovah witnesses have never participated in the flag and pledge and nobody said nothing.

The league is already dying. And it started a awhile and sped up with
    Kapernick.

And Jehovah's Witness are not comparable to NFL players using their job to push their political view. If I put a black power fist or or Nazi sign in my email signature at work, I'd be fired.

Let's cut the malarchy! This has nothing to do with a person's place of work. These phony bullshit narratives are the reason this country is going down the shitter. This is about unarmed black folk getting murked by the police. People can agree that this is happening. But the public don't care about the plight of black folks. This got nothing to do with the flag, patriotism, or workplace etiquette. It's about millionaires who just happen to be black, being neutered for living in a sometimes unjust society and rightfully complaining about it. Neutered because a lot of white folks are afraid that Negroes with dollars and opinions may actually have an effect on public policy if they are united. That's what this is about.

No this specifically about players using the NFL and in field activities to promote their political or social views.

Do that on your own time. I watch sports to get away from that. Now because of them every sports show talks about then the President comments and everyone talks about it.

This is the problem. A large part of white society wants to remain blind to the issue because it in essence questions the entire power structure we were raised to believe in.
The police are overwhelmingly allowed leeway to act as they deem necessary because we were raised with belief in the unquestionable righteousness of the boys in blue. The problem is they are not angels, they're human. And you're gonna get shitty ones. The problem is exacerbated when those that are shitty are not punished for their actions and instead of being removed from the unit, they thrive, become senior officers and create more like them. So then you end up with a large ass infected organism operating under fear driven standards in opposition of the people you're supposed to be serving. And from within that organism it becomes perfectly feasible to you to fear for your life when some deaf person is holding a pipe and waving it because they can't hear what they're yelling at you. Or some tiny lady is holding a knife. Or some guy is fighting you to get out of the chokehold you have him in. And then you take it too far. And others take it too far. And that becomes the standard.
And then media technology progresses to the point where these standard things aren't just covered locally with a statement from the police anymore. They're caught on camera. They're shared on social media. They become thr news. And people see the patterns of force being more excessive against minorities and they start speaking up.
And maybe you put yourself in their situation and say "I'd fear for my life if I was that cop." But they're supposed to be better than you and I. If they're not expected to be better then they shouldn't have lethal authority. They are there to maintain peace, de-escalate situations and restore order, not create death and invite chaos.
And... I just have to ask... if you don't want politics and activism in your sports, then why are you in the politics section of a sports site?
