    Predict three depth chart surprises

I still don't think the starting right tackle is on the current roster.

And because of something a few post back I go on record saying they run the ball much better under center than out of the shotgun. It just opens up so many other options

I'm hyped for Boyle. He's a versatile TE that's shown flashes of athleticism and he's able to make it through camp without getting hurt. If he can stay clean, I don't see anything that keeps him from winning the starting job.

However, I'll say this. You're not going to be able to evaluate an offensive lineman at OTAs. Practices consist of walking through the installation of the offense and essentially running 7 on 7 drills with the lineman holding blocking pads in front of them and pushing sleds otherwise.

No one was predicting Alex Lewis would step right in for K.O. during OTAs last year. But Lewis is a similar player--hard-nosed run blocker who was picked 122 overall, just 8 spots higher than Siragusa was selected this year. Given the history of mid-rounders becoming instant starters on O line I don't think it's a stretch. If you read almost every post-draft analysis of the Siragusa pick, they mention him starting at LG so the team could move Lewis to center or right tackle.

While OTAs didn't prove those predictions are coming true, they most certainly didn't negate them.
In fact, pretty sure Lewis was second string until Urschel got injured in the preseason, then ran away with the job.

I could see that. Urschel at rg with Yanda at rt worked pretty well in 2014 in the playoffs too

Who on that roster would you have at center instead?

I don't feel like hunting the quote, but something about sitting back and calmly watching this year instead of being invested as heavily in the team...

There is a front page article by Brian McFarland and he says something scary

    http://russellstreetreport.com/2017/.../nfl-calendar/
So, that’s means that as of now, at least 64 players would have count against the Cap at the beginning of the season. Based on those 64 players, the present Cap space would be reduced to around $845K in surplus Cap space as of the beginning of the season.
I'd be shrugging if anyone but Brian said we are going to have under $1million at the start of the season (and that is no one except Young going to IR)
We need more than a contract re-worked to afford a RT not currently on the roster, and forget stashing a couple on IR ... what it may look like we have money now but it disappears as Brian accounts for it at the end of his article

Instead of signing garbage at safety I would have went after a center when Birk retired, but then again I wouldn't have traded Boldin to save 2 million either.

That's not the coach's job though. He can only start the people on the roster.

I agree Ozzie deserves much of the blame for the way this team has been constructed the last few years.
