    Cortez Kennedy Dead at 48

I can't find a cause of death anywhere, but anymore I'm shocked if it's not CTE-related.

Wow. :-( Certainly could be head trauma related, but Cortez was also a huge dude. Could be heart, diabetes, etc. Too soon to speculate.

Tez was a massive man. That's a difficult strain for many parts of the body.

It's so sad. Cortez Kennedy was Mr. Seahawks. That team had little personality or league awareness but those who new football would rave about Tez. It's similar to what you see with the Rams and Aaron Donald and the Browns with Joe Thomas. To continue to be a great player despite the fact that you are on a bad team is impressive. It's takes a special player to keep that up. Tez will be missed

The Seahawks had a great defense when he and Sam Adams were clogging up the center of the line of scrimmage.

    RIP.

These big guys need get help to lose weight when they retire...it's tough being that big, especially when they stop the intense physical activities that go along with professional sports.

He was a great player and from what I hear, a good guy. I feel for his family and will keep them in my prayers...that's really early for a guy to go.
Although Walsh's system of offense can compensate for lack of talent; however, defense is a different story. According to Walsh, talent on defense was essential and could not be compensated for. What did Walsh do in 1981? He acquired physical and talented players on defense.

My opinion one of the greatest defensive lineman to have ever played.

Winning Defensive Player of the Year on a 2-14 team? That is beast.

Peter Boulware was another player that successfully "bulked-down" after his career was over...IIRC.
