Waste of a roster spot. I never recall us seeing a good returner in purple. Sams, mentioned above, was mediocre, with a propensity to muff at the worst time.

OK, can't forget Ed Reed, but his career would have been cut short.

I'd sooner see Reynolds or Campanaro, then also play him as an extra WR.
In a 2003 BBC poll that asked Brits to name the "Greatest American Ever", Mr. T came in fourth, behind ML King (3rd), Abe Lincoln (2nd) and Homer Simpson (1st).

Yep, it is like looking for a needle in a haystack, but it is good to see the FO still trying.
Haven't had anyone great since Jermaine Lewis a 5'7" 5th rd draft pick in 1996, who had 6TD on punt returns while here.
I'm sure Jermaine's legacy is part of the reason someone asked about Will Likely another 5'7" Terrapin

Maybe this year we catch lightening in a bottle, but as you say if will probably be for depth also rather than pure specialist ... but we can hope - it is something to watch early

Sounds like we're just hoping the same group from last season is just better 1 year later.

    Re: Punt Returner

Kenny Bell had a 99 yard punt return against Penn State in 2013. (Why he's fielding a punt at the one yard line is question to ask.)

He was in the lead to be the Buc's KR guy in 2016. Then, he fielded an opening kickoff and had an Eagles defender knock it out his hand. Later that preseason he suffered a concussion; soon thereafter he was released.

Jacoby Jones? or am I missing something on why you wouldn't include him. He was definitely not a waste of a roster spot.

Great speed, a track guy, quickness and doesn't hesitate.

I like that he seems to run through a lot of arm tackles.

IIRC: Jacoby Jones was the third WR, behind Torrey Smith and Anquan Boldin. Not a returner specialist, special teamer only. Wasn't he the WR who caught the Rocky Mountain Miracle and the third TD pass in SB 47, or was I hallucinating again?

I thought we were discussing BJ Sams type dedicated returner specialists, not backup WRs who also returned. Maybe I am confused.
