This board is pretty balanced. Some more positive, some more negative and that's fine. That's exactly why people are entitled to their opinion.

I think it's just straight up stupid to say it's all hype when discussing upside. Literally no point in having a discussion if that's the response.
And I posted my reasons as well.
so we will agree to disagree on this player

I'm not negative all the time?

I actually liked the signing of B. Williams. I liked the Drafting of Siragusa. I even liked the drafting of Tyus Bowser.
I just don't like this player.

As far as part time players go, part time pass rusher is one where he could be very successful while being a part time player. You have to look no further than Doom as an example. The league has become so pass happy that he will be on the field a ton as a pass rusher.

I was listening to Pat Kirwin on NFL radio and he talked a little bit about how every Alabama player he spoke to held Williams in the highest regards and gushed about him.

Williams fills the biggest need on the team which is pass rusher. We did not have anyone who can get to the QB.
I still think he has high bust potential on the field as well....I would love for the Ravens to have a superstar Pass rusher come out of this draft. I just don't see it with Williams is all

So what is it about Tim Williams game that you do not like on the field?

Is he too slow off the snap, poor hand placement, lack of flexibility?

Yup. He can bend the corner. First Ravens pass rusher I can recall that can bend the corner like that.

I see a lot of sky high expectations...I've been disappointed well enough to know NOT every player drafted is a star.
I'm also noticing a lot of people trying to justify the player with "film study" after the fact.
I am simply stating that I do not have sky high expectations of Tim Williams. (like many of you)
    Reasons:
    1. Part time player
    2. One dimensional
    3. Reports are he struggled to pick up the playbook at Alabama (that is pro style defense, so I expect the same issues here)
    4. first and foremost this is the biggie for me, off-fied issues, enough for every team to pass on him 2-3 times.
--> I believe he is trending the same direction as McClain.
    5. I think there were better players available, namely Chris Godwin (bigger impact to this team, good production)

bottom line I actually mocked Tim Williams to the Ravens previous to the draft on one occasion, just think that after all said and done he is a high Bust potential.
Getting excited about the players on the team is far from drinking the purple kool aid.

You need some joy in your life man. Have a beer.

No he is not slow off the snap noor poor hand placement before the play nor his flexibility when rushing the passer.
it is his inability to understand the situation and recognise a receiver going past him, his penchant to only rush the passer and perhaps miss what happens past him ( a receiver in the flat?, and option run inside his pass rush outside) and not adjust to the situation. He is a liability in coverage and Run Defense. I expect opposition to run right at him until he proves he can play run defense. His quickness might actually be taken advantage of by NFL level Tackles and direct him away from plays using his own speed. Thus he will have limited snaps (especially early). And finally the biggie and also touched on in the earlier comments is reports of he not picking up the playbook, as shown by his limited snap count at Alabama (as low as 25%). ...This was enough to sidline Correa last year, and by all reports the "career killer" of Arthur Brown.

BPR had a good post showing Williams ability against the run at Alabama. I think people that say his run defense is a weakness haven't watched him as much as they need to in order to make taht conclusion. That being siad, he has a small sample size because he was a pass rush specialist so he didn't see the run much.

I think he's going to be a pass rush specialist here as well, which should mitigate those concerns.

I don't agree with the comparisons to Brown and Correa. Williams isn't going to play ILB where the coverage responsibilities are complex and that is the part of the playbook Brown and Correa struggle with. Williams is going ot be lined up and told to get after the QB. I think he can grasp that.

People tend to forget how good of an athlete Prime Suggs was.

True, very true. Suggs was stronger than Williams though. I feel like Suggs was much more about strength and overpowering OT's.

He was't Robert Mathis or John Abraham (the former is probably a good comp for Williams) in the sense that he was not an edge burner but his transition of speed to power was unmatched. Khalil Mack is basically a mirror image of what Suggs use to be.
