Elam is the Ravens' 2017 Ed Block Courage Award Recipient
Just two weeks after his drug bust in Miami, Matt Elam is scheduled to walk upon the stage as the Ravens' recipient of the Ed Block Courage Award. The Ravens need to pull a Steve Harvey on this and give it to someone else. I opine about it at the link and we've placed the following poll just below the article.
As always we invite your thoughts.

Well, it does take courage to have that much weed and oxy on you I guess. Cheech and Chong would be proud.

Some could argue it takes a certain type of "courage" to drive recklessly with large amounts of drugs in your car.

If it's already been announced, just give it to him. I'd rather give it to Orr or SSR if it hadn't already been voted on, but it is what it is.
Is it really a big deal in the long run? If it wouldn't have mentioned that Pitta won it last year, I couldn't have told you who won it then.

Unfortunate.
"The Ravens are not taking Jimmy Smith at 26!" -- Me, the day before the 2011 Draft
"On their way to the podium, the Ravens FO is going to collectively step over my dead body and select...Breshad Perriman." -- Me, the day before the 2015 Draft

Shameful more than unfortunate. I don't know that much about this award but doesn't it have to do with children and or charities?
This is the guy we want representing the team? A recent drug arrestee whom the team sending him is not even attempting to employ him? LOL
Sorry just another glaring black eye on the Ravens front office lately.

Embarrassing to say the least.
By many accounts this is looked at as one of the highest honors a player can receive. Has little to do with the on field play and just about everything to do with off the field representing your committment to yourself, your team and the city it represents.
So here we have an award that started here in Baltimore and to this day is still celebrated here with the representative from every team gathering for an all day event playing with under privileged and challenged kids culminating with a black tie dinner and awards ceremony with many dignitaries. Our representative in the home city of the celebration just got busted with drugs and guys with illegal guns in his car trying to allude the police.
Unfucking believable!!!
You can't make this shit up!!
Don't know if it's too late but I would immediately withdraw Elam's name and put just about anybody else out there.
Steve Smith Sr. would get my vote. Will Die A Ravens Fan!!

It's a player award so its up to them. Change it or don't, it's on them.
I am just glad his time here is done.

Perhaps they should also give out a Blockhead award, then I'd vote for Matt Elam... Bc
