jeffery is a real #1. he might not have a high catch % but he is a guy that defensive coordinators have to scheme for. i watched lots of bears games over the last few years and when healthy jeffery is a stud.
he is also a huge red zone threat. if he wasnt injured i thin he would be getting dez money but i dont think we can still afford him

I agree. And of course, it is relative.

On Atlanta or Dallas? Jeffery isn't the #1.

On Baltimore? He's easily the #1 and the top go-to guy on offense.

Reckon, I won't have much to say in here for the next four weeks, so just carrying over my last thought from the former thread...

Many question marks and needs, but not a lot of projected capital. Certainly, not a lot in relation to other needy teams.

I don't expect anything particularly needle-moving once the league year starts (unless it involves a trade).
Not saying it won't happen, I'm just not expecting it.

I'll say this...if those listed DB's do end up getting cut, that will certainly provide the Ravens with some potential options.

    Re: 2017 Free Agency

I know guys like Bmore hate SporTrac, but I'm posting this because it gives you a general idea of the cap space teams around the league are looking at.

    http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/cap/2017/

19 teams have more than $30 million in cap space...that's insane. We are one of only 5 teams that don't have at least $20 million...although we are relatively close at $15.
Although Walsh's system of offense can compensate for lack of talent; however, defense is a different story. According to Walsh, talent on defense was essential and could not be compensated for. What did Walsh do in 1981? He acquired physical and talented players on defense.

    Agreed.

It's going to be business as usual, thankfully. Ozzie is most likely going to make a move in the informal second round of free agency like he does almost every year.

wicked, you listed Tyrod Taylor in "Potential Cap Casualties."
Am I wrong in thinking that if the Bills keep him they have to guarantee him something like $30 million? I thank anyone who has the answer... Bc

Tramon Williams and Sam Shields, those are two blast from the past names.

There are some retreads in that list Wicked, but as you eluded to there is also some meat on the bone.

With his last 16 game season being three years removed, I am not sure he's a #1 on any team at the moment.

He's a lot of money for someone who gets hurt often.
