The problem with your list is that all of the skill players you list were average players. Oher was a false start machine and was probably not considered average at the time. There is not one player on the list who is in the top 10 by position. I find it hard to say that 4 of our oline and Leach were very good when Rice was not even a top 10 back.

All you have to do is ask yourself this question. How many QBs can you name, that you or football fans in general would consider better than Joe, who have gone through just as much or more disarray in total, between coaching, scheme, philosophy and talent?

That's the question we all need to ask ourselves, if we're really being honest here.

For the record, the guy who takes good coaching, veteran Steve Smith, a cloud of dust and goes into New England and throws four (Should have been five) touchdown passes in January, is the guy the team needs to be built around.

A more important question IMO is for the FO: When and how do you grab a QB of equal or lesser talent, but with greater FBIQ and discipline, that in the worst-case is able to deal with just as much if not more disarray in case the club continues to step on its own offensive-diq.

The problem with just referencing yardage or interceptions is that it lacks context. For example, if I said that Joe's 2016 INT numbers were right about where everybody should expect them to be, I'd be correct. Because its about how many times he threw the ball, as obviously more attempts tends to correlate with more INTs.

So basically you've got 2013 and 2015 where he had unreasonable high INT rates. We pretty much could have already guessed this anyway.

But in 2014 and even last season, his INT% wasn't really a whole lot different than it was from 2010-2012, or even in 2014, which most people consider his best season.

Now from a yardage perspective, his YPA was pretty pathetic this past season, and really has only been quality once in the last four years (2014). He's been below 7.0 YPA for the three of the last four years, and his TD% hasn't been that good either.

But its important to keep in mind that a lot of these numbers are going to be driven by attempts. And from an INT perspective, we know what Joe is. He's going to be around 2-2.5% INT%, meaning if he's going to continue towards 600 attempts every year, a reasonable expectation for INTs is 12-15. I don't really see how fans can complain about those numbers at this stage in his career.

As for Passer Rating, its not a real thing. If I asked you to tell me what it is and what it means, you'd have to look it up to do it. Its just one of many failed attempts to combine all statistics into a single statistic, and NFL teams don't put any stock in it.

Almost as bad as QBR.
