    Re: The Woodworking Thread

Just finished this one last night. Posted it on eBay and it sold already. First time that’s happened for me.

Stanley Defiance No.4 produced between 1939-1950.

    Finished this one this evening.

1950-1953 Sargent Hercules “Golden Cutter” Bench Plane.

This one was a hot mess when I got it. It was a total restore.

Nice job Wicked, can you sell restored tools for decent money or is it just a hobby?

I’ve actually turned it into a fairly successful side business. I’m trying to get a small woodworking business off the ground. It started as a hobby, but I really enjoy it and I’ve gotten a decent following on Instagram and locally for some of the things I’ve made and restored.

If anything, restoring vintage tools makes a couple of bucks here and there that I can use to support woodworking.

Do you get most of your old tools at yard sales?

Yard sales, estate sales, swap meets, Facebook marketplace, EBAY....

I think the best deals are at yard sales. You can find some good deals at swap meets, but most of the time those guys know what they have.

Have been pretty busy the past few months.
