    Ravens Implosion on The Horizon?

I posted this article today and some fans haven't responded well, particularly on our Facebook page.

I'm interested in what you all think.

    Who Are The Baltimore Ravens?

What kind of team are they?

What defines them and for crying out loud, where have all the playmakers gone?

They have morphed into the NFL’s melba toast. Plain, boring and extraordinarily ordinary and lately they are defined by coaching blunders. Fans have taken notice and they’ve become detached.

    Want proof?

We would be 5-0 if small town John would pull an Earl Weaver, play the percentages and stop out smarting his idiot self. Been the better team every week so far this year.

"Given the way that the Ravens have drafted lately, it’s reasonable to conclude that the scouts and the coaching staff aren’t on the same page."

This has been talked about in some capacity by most of us on here for quite some time now.
I think it's more than reasonable to conclude now that there is definitely some type of disconnect that needs to be fixed yesterday!
Having a disconnect of this nature is possibly (if not definitely) the worst type of problem a team can have.:grbac:

This is a team that could be 5-0, and just as easily be 0-5. So they are 3-2, which is right in the middle. You are what your record says you are. A little better than mediocre.

The lack of star power doesn't bother me. The Ravens have a handful of up and comers who are making big plays or just missing. I gotta tell you, CJ Mosley has made some incredible INTs already. And when he fumbled going into the EZ I immediately thought of a young safety right out of college in 2002 who had an easy TD stripped going into the EZ. That guy blossomed pretty quickly into HOF material.

If we can get the OL healthy and together for a while, I think you'll start to see the Ravens' real identity...smashmouth running and big shots downfield. If the OL can't stay healthy you'll see more of what we saw Sunday.

Ed Lee runs down the 2015 draft. Yet another sub par to poor draft. I don't know if the coaches are getting too much input in the draft, DeCosta has too much influence, Ozzie has lost his touch, or there is poor player development. If I am Steve B. if this season goes south and we have another losing season not only is Harbs job on the line but so is the front office.

Good article (unfortunately). No, we don't have an identity. We have deep threats in Wallace and Perriman, but rarely go deep. We have several TEs but certainly are not a TE-oriented O. We have hard-nosed West running behind tough guys like Yanda, Lewis and Jensen, but we are certainly not a run-it-down-their-throats O. On D . . . well, we are solid against the run. But we are also a team with a substandard secondary that sits good pass rushers in favor of mediocre/one-dimensional STers.

Surprised? Shouldn't be. After all, Harbs is best known as an ST specialist. What was the last team whose "identity" was special teams? With no outstanding background on either O or D, he takes the conservative approach on both.

OZ -- where is he? What impact is he really having on this team? He is smart enough to know that either:
    A) he is making substandard picks or . . .
    B) the coaching staff is not developing or using those picks effectively.

Finally, our romance with FAs. We use high draft picks, develop them slowly so we do NOT get max benefit from them, then let them leave. In return, we get LOWER draft picks than those we used on the players we lost. We do NOT have a coaching staff good enough to make 4th and 5th round compensatory picks equal the performance of 2nd and 3rds we lose.

Enough. Sorry to have wasted so much of your time. At this instant, this team is not worth it.
Not much really matters, and the rest doesn't matter at all.

    Bingo! :word

The worst overall game strategy coaching in the NFL over the past two weeks, since the "glorious" coaching era of Rich Kotite of the Phillies and Jets in the 90's.

And kudos to Harbaugh for (tied) the worst individual plays called in the Oakland game (accepting a six yard penalty to result in a TD instead of FG, costing us the game) and the Washington game (the oh-so-tricky fake FG against Landover, also costing us the game). These were the worst individual play calls in the NFL since Eagles vs Giants 1978: "The Miracle in The Meadowlands":

In a 2003 BBC poll that asked Brits to name the "Greatest American Ever", Mr. T came in fourth, behind ML King (3rd), Abe Lincoln (2nd) and Homer Simpson (1st).

The most telling item from the article is them sitting the two rookie pass rushers in favor of three special teamers who didn't register a single statistic. Something's got to change.

I agree. Next to the questionable (I'm being kind here) in-game decisions, having Correa and Judon ride the pine has me puzzled. The Ravens wanted more of a pass rush in 2016, so Ozzie drafted three guys (Kaufusi on IR) to help in that regard. That's 2nd, 3rd, and 5th round draft choices. Correa and Judon showed some QB pressure skills in TC (that is when Correa wasn't asked to move to ILB). These are the kind of players that I'd want getting snaps every game so they can develop real playing skills when the games count, not in some theoretical practice session... Bc

My 2nd reply to your post is a question : did any of those Special Teamers help stop Crowder's 85 yard punt return? ... Bc

Man! Stop preaching that gospel. There is no disconnect. Just bad coaching! Every game this year we were in control and with sound decisions we would be undefeated. The difference is that small town John let an incompetent OC throw two games away because he did not override his subordinate. You think the hoodie or the Tuna would let a OC blow a game while he's on the wall watching??? Ozzie has flipped this team 4 times! He knows what he is doing.

That being said these cats don't know how to use Joe. Boxing analogy. Joe is a big slow heavyweight with huge KO power. He don't need to throw a lot of punches like Arguello or be busy like Tyson. He's George Foreman. Run the ball limit his throws and unleash the death Ray here and there. Everyone knows this but the OC.
