it's heartbreaking to see lower-tier teams like Georgia State get so close to beating a big-time team (in yesterday's case Wisconsin) only to lose and have nothing to show for.

so I propose a new stat. if a significantly lower team almost beats a big-time team (within 8 points say) let's give them credit for a Scare.

Sunday for instance Cleveland State lost to Baltimore, but they got The Scare. 'Cleveland State finishes 2-14 with three scares.'
