From the Superbowl to the bottom of the league in 39 games
This must be some kind of record.
I think that the team's desire to remain competitive after the Superbowl has resulted in it being totally mismanaged - both on and off the field. Ozzie's personnel decisions have in large part driven the talent off this team. Their bad drafting have of course resulted in Joe having to throw to garbage wide receivers.
Retirements have of course been significant. I think its interesting to note the steady defensive decline - playing 2013 without Ray, and then 2014 without Ray and Ed, and 2015 with Ray, Ed, and Haloti. There's a direct correlation.

The defensive players aren't going all out. You can see it.
They're playing like they're jobs are safe and they're more interested in getting a paycheck than winning games.

I'm quite certain webb is no longer worth a roster spot. But we have nothing else.
And someone needs to call out Jimmy Smith. This guy was here when Ray and ed were. He knows how the tradition went. And he has done nothing to maintain it. He was supposed to carry the torch and transition the new guys.

A new head coach would help.

I don't buy the "they aren't playing hard" arguments at all.
I think they are playing hard...they just aren't being put in the best situations by the coaches, they aren't playing smart and some just should not be on the field.
I think that effort argument is somewhat easy to use...but the reality is that the team has had every game go down to the wire...they are competing...just making too many dumb, dumb mistakes, coaches and players.Although Walsh's system of offense can compensate for lack of talent; however, defense is a different story. According to Walsh, talent on defense was essential and could not be compensated for. What did Walsh do in 1981? He acquired physical and talented players on defense.

Webb is actually playing RELATIVELY well so I'm not getting all the Webb hate. He may not be worth his contract but he's been better than every guy not named Will Smith in the secondary.

Somewhere, Bisciotti is seething. This season has become an embarrassment. To have one win at this point WITH your franchise qb remaining healthy is an indictment of the entire FO, down to the coaches. They will not escape this season unscathed. Heads are going to roll. Watch.
