No need to overthink this. The Buccaneers need a QB and Jameis should be their guy if he doesn't get in trouble.

Makes the most sense. I don't think he's worth the #1 pick, but you need a QB and he's the best option for their offence.

The Bucs seem to be in love with the guy.

Please dont move these threads. It's the off-season and this has become somewhat of a tradition on RSR leading up to the draft.

Time for me to channel my inner Ozzie Newsome. I don't care what the Dolphins need. BPA!

    They are.

Physically, Winston is a better prospect than any recent QB not named Andrew Luck.

We'll see if Lovie Smith can keep his head in the game.

I dont understand why. The more I watch his tape, the more I dont see a good NFL QB. I dont with Mariota either.

Honestly, if I were the Bucks I'd draft somewhere else and get my #1 value.

IMO, they're just gonna have to draft another QB next year.

The vicious cycle continues. Bad franchises draft the "hot commodity" QBs early, often making costly trades to do so, and then throw these young QBs to the wolves as rookies, giving them no time to develop and a poor supporting cast.

As true is this is, teams don't have a choice. I don't critize the Bucs for taking him because IMO they have to. You have to have a QB in this day and age.

I agree - I just think teams like the Bucs should draft their Jameis Winston or whoever, and then let them ride the pine behind some mediocre veteran for a year. They have no chance of making the playoffs anyway, and giving the poor guy a chance to learn and get comfortable will help a lot. The expectations for rookie QBs are pretty intense these days - guys like Bortles, Bridgewater, Carr, Manziel - if they play badly, they get absolutely dumped on. People are always debating "which is the best from this draft class? Can so and so make it as an NFL starter??"

I really think if teams just committed to keeping a guy on the bench for his rookie season, get 2 fresh drafts/FA classes to put him in the with, and let him go at it in his 2nd year, they'd like the results a lot better.

EDIT: All that being said, I recognize that even crappy NFL franchises have a "win now" mentality and probably wouldn't keep their rookie on the bench if he's the most talented QB.
