Re: 2015 RSR Mock Draft - Discussion Thread

Is this an orderly mosck thread? That is, is there some format to this (member selected teams?, discuss by draft position?, randonm ramblings?, etc)? Just don;t want to step on the regulars' toes if there is.

As for Winston, what I saw from his games i that he has the Roethlisberger-like delivery and ability to make plays on the fly. And not just to THE play, but to extend a broken play with his feet and turn it into a big play. You can't teach that, BUT he does come with a ton of red flags like the off field shenanigans and the Manziel-like questionmarks about relaiying too much in his ability rather than learning the playbook thoroughly. Having natural ability will only go so far in the pros. The difference is that Pittsburgh knew what to do with Big Ben, but I don;t thin that the Bucs know how to develop a QB.

    Could not agree more.

The expectations for rookie QBs are pretty intense these days - guys like Bortles, Bridgewater, Carr, Manziel - if they play badly, they get absolutely dumped on. People are always debating "which is the best from this draft class? Can so and so make it as an NFL starter??"

I really think if teams just committed to keeping a guy on the bench for his rookie season, get 2 fresh drafts/FA classes to put him in the with, and let him go at it in his 2nd year, they'd like the results a lot better.

EDIT: All that being said, I recognize that even crappy NFL franchises have a "win now" mentality and probably wouldn't keep their rookie on the bench if he's the most talented QB.
    I completely agree

There is another thread where posters are making the picks. So cross-refernece those picks with this discussion. The posters make it purely on what they would do as the teams GM

Honestly, if I were the Bucks I'd draft somewhere else and get my #1 value.

IMO, they're just gonna have to draft another QB next year.
Because he's going to sell tickets. The Bucs are having a tough time generating any excitement. Winston has that Cam Newton kind of 1 man show thing going on. When you are a crappy organization marketing often means more than a good football decision. You saw that last year with the Texans. They didn't feel they had to take a QB to help market the team. That's a well run franchise with great corporate support. They approached the draft from a football standpoint. The Bucs like the Panthers and Jaguars can't do that.

Thank you for rescuing this thread from being banished. It's ridiculous that we can have threads about Bert Jones but a mock draft at this time of year not put on the main page.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around why the deflate-gate thread is alive and well at the top of the board

Also, call me crazy, but if Winston is as good as some draft pundits say he is, the bucs could make noise next year. Don't get me wrong, I'm no proponent of the guy, but I've seen him called the best prospect of the decade sans Luck. With a decent o-line and really good receivers it's very feasible that they take over that soft division next year

I never really thought about it this way, but you do make a good point. It's an easy way to distinguish the contenders from the pretenders.

    Who makes those decisions anyway?

Winston is a no brainer for Tampa unless they trade for QB before the draft. He's the most NFL ready QB since Luck. my opinion of course...

Titans have to upgrade their defense and they've done a good job in free agency. But they need that big anchor who can bring pressure, enter Leonard Williams

FWIW, that's actually the SECOND deflate-gate thread. It replaced the first one that got to a cajillion pages and morphed into a flame war.
