    First visit

    Hi guys,

My girlfriend and I have managed to sort out a trip to Baltimore and I have tickets to the Titans game in November, my first game in the US!

I've booked flights and hotel but would love to hear recommendations and advice from fellow Ravens fans who have done this before about what I should do on game day!

    Thanks,

    Re: First visit

I went over to a couple of games in 2011 (Bengals & 49ers at Thanksgiving) and am heading over again this year for the MNF game in New Orleans and the Chargers game the week after at the Bank.

On gameday, best thing to do is head down fairly early (ie about 9-10am) and take a wander down Ravens Walk as the atmosphere is already building nicely even 4 hours before KO. Talk to people in the parking lots and some may invite you to join their tailgate, which is an essential part of the experience!

Post game, there's plenty of bars around if that's your thing, which will have a decent atmosphere. I was on my own last time so you may be different if you're with your GF, but I went to Mothers in Federal Hill last time and it was great fun.

Thanks Ravensblue. We've set aside the whole Sunday for Football so looks like we defo will head down around 9 like you've suggested and experience it all. I'll also keep Mothers in Federal Hill in my mind! Enjoy your trips (I almost got tickets to New Orleans too but didnt due to £££'s!)

    Hey!

That's fantastic you're getting out here for a game! I don't know if anyone has talked to you about some things that might make your day easier... Last season they made a rule where you can't bring any bags in unless they're clear, or only about the size of your hand. I know if your girlfriend or you tried to bring one and they turned you away to put it back at the hotel or in your car, it might cause a bad start to your first game here. They actually sell clear bags outside the stadium at the tents near the parking lots most of the time! Smoking cigarettes is also not allowed in the stadium as of last year so you have to go outside some of the gates to a smoking area.

My girlfriend and I don't drink so we don't do any of the bar things before hand, but if you are going to be staying for a while little Italy has some good restaurants that are open pretty late. And if you're going to be around for a few days there are plenty of other things to do in the city.

If you have any questions about random things, my girlfriend and I ( and most of the time some of my family ) are at all the home games. So feel free to message me or write back on here. It's great to hear there are Ravens fans over in the UK! Most of what I read our team isn't very popular outside of Maryland. If I don't hear from you, I hope you have an amazing time. Go Ravens!

Start sooner than 9 and plan some post-game activities. It's typically a 10 to 12 hour journey. Bars in Federal Hill and Pratt Street/Inner Harbor corridor and Fells Point are usually lively. Ravens Walk and Lot H are worth several hours each pre-game for tailgate party-hopping. Also, the new Casino is worth a whirl.

Feel free to drape yourself in a UK flag, hurl celery, sing British chants aimed at opponent fans; we've seen all of these and more from our Limey friends and welcome more British Invasion. Feel free to start a thread n the 24x7 forum 4 to 5 days prior to the game soliciting tailgating locations. You should get many responses. Particularly, if you bring Boddiongton's, Newcastle or similar libations, you would be very welcomed to participate.
In a 2003 BBC poll that asked Brits to name the "Greatest American Ever", Mr. T came in fourth, behind ML King (3rd), Abe Lincoln (2nd) and Homer Simpson (1st).

Thanks for the reply! Thanks for the info re the bags, we have the same policy at the International series (although I'm sure it's enforced better in the USA) so she is prepared to leave her handbag at the hotel!

I did hear that the Ravens are 'the most hated team in Europe' but I can assure you there is a dedicated lot of us in the UK, we're a close bunch as the UK is swamped with Patriots, 49ers, Dolphins etc.

Can't wait to be out there with you guys soaking up your passion for the game. Thanks for all the offers of help rdavis67. Might speak to you soon!

Thanks for the info Mista T. I enjoy reading your post on other topics within this forum by the way!

I've looked into it and we can bring in roughly 4.5L of beer each so I love the idea of bringing some of the more traditional British Beer so you guys can sample some of it! Now wondering if I can get a UK flag draped in the colour purple!
