Re: Anyone interested in these FAs?

Britt, Nicks, and Maclin are all damaged goods. I'd stay away from them all.

I'd rather look at someone like James Jones. It's a roll of the dice though since he could end up being a product of playing with Rodgers, similar to Jennings.

Isn't Riley Cooper a FA? He's a big receiver (6'3'') who has performed well this year. Probably not a #1 though.

That's what we said last year before they cut Reed, Pollen and traded everyone's favorite - Boldin.

You can be sure somone will be cut this year too and there have been threads and posts wondering if
Suggs will go or even Ngata.

There's also restructuring of contracts so never say never.

And don't forget our own departures like Oher who will free up some cap space. We lost Ellerbe and
Kruger last year and signed Doooooom and Smith. Pitta could also depart - Lord forbid.

There's a lot of possibilities here to make cap space.

I say resign Pitta, Monroe and Cody.

Try to resign Art and Jacoby, but they'll likely get big contracts elsewhere.

Maybe look at David Stewart as a RT replacement for Oher.

Really, the more I think about it the more I think they should stay away from these receivers in FA. Not sure I see a true #1 outside of potentially Eric Decker (who is going to cost way too much for the Ravens) and they have enough #2/#3 types already.

For skill guys, look elsewhere...like at TE, where they could retain Pitta and then sign a guy who shouldn't cost a ton like Pettigrew or Fred Davis, low risk, high reward.

WR help is going to need to come from the draft.

Ihe's available - Brian De La Puente, Center

Saints may not be able to hold him. He's not the best but not Gino. Thoughts?

Close . . . . but you have a mercifully short memory if you have forgotten some of the matt cavanaugh/billick iterations . . . . . . they were worse (if you can imagine such a horror)

De La Puente and Alex Mack are two guys the Ravens should absolutely be looking at. Mack will probably cost too much, though.

I'll pay anyone $10 if you can name five WRs who signed for $5MM+ per year in the last ten years who worked out as well or better than they did with their original team after signing as a FA for a new team.

Pretty sure Henne is a FA now. Would be nice to have a pocket QB as a backup, just in case. I like Tyrod but wouldn't want to have to rely on him if Flacco had to miss a game or two

I'd kill for Alex Mack, who has publicly stated he'd like to stay in Cleveland. If he isn't lying, I'd have to question his intelligence ;)

Alex Mack may become the highest paid C in the league, there's no way the FO are going to invest that much cash into a C when they can find a decent one on the cheap, or get a good player in the draft. Alex Mack is a great C, perhaps the best C in the NFL, but I wouldn't pay that much for a center considering our other holes.

De La Puente may be a good option, but even he'll be a little pricey.

Three recent ones off the top of my head who I believe all make over 5.5M (could be wrong, didn't look up salary but I would expect them to):

    Vincent Jackson
    Wes Welker
    Brandon Marshall

Nobody like Jackson or Marshall out there this year though, so I agree with your point.
