    Wow. 40.4 yards more/game.

Just for fun...let's adjust these numbers for YAC to provide some CONTEXT.

Here are Ryan's top 4 YAC guys:
    Douglas: 418
    Rodgers: 264
    Snelling: 166
    Gonzalez: 158
    TOTAL: 1006

Here are Flacco's top 4 YAC guys:
    Smith: 280
    Rice: 206
    Clark: 161
    Brown: 148
    TOTAL: 795

Now, divide those totals by 10 games. From his top 4 guys, Ryan gets ~100.6 yards/game. Flacco gets ~79.5. Now deduct those YAC yards from the baseline yards/game:

    Ryan: 287.3-100.5 = 186.8
    Flacco: 246.9-79.5 = 167.4.

    186.8-167.4 = 19.4 yards/game.

Wow...Ryan including his top 4 YAC guys had 40.4 more yards/game. However, adjust that for YAC and it drops over 50% to just 19.4 more yards/game than Flacco with respect to contributing YAC.

This is merely an example to show how raw stats without context are just numbers. But you can clearly see how Ryan' stats benefits more from YAC.

Obviously he is having a worse year than last year, that is indicated by the numbers.

Harry Douglas has 140 more YAC than Torrey? Wow, that must explain things. Of course if we averaged the Falcons YAC on our completions we would have a paltry 95 more passing yards. (Atlanta 5.79 YAC avg.; Ravens 5.36 YAC avg.). And of course, YAC is a function of more than WR skill, such as not underthrowing open deep routes, not throwing behind guys in crossing routes, etc.

Yeah, so? You tossed out there that Ryan throws short throws as if that alone explains his results. The data indicates he throws more accurately than expected on the short throws, and the 0-9 throws and the 10-19 throws. And Flacco shows up in the 0-9 and 10-19 data as well.

Are you arguing Ryan is throwing an inordinate amount of checkdowns this year over last? If so, provide the data. Then explain the Y/A data.

Flacco is performing well below his worst year ever. Ryan, not so much. Flacco's 2013 QB rating is 9.6 below his career average. Ryan's is 0.8 below his average.

Flacco and Ryan, while both performing worse than last year, have not fallen anywhere near equal amounts or to anywhere near equal levels (89.9 QB rating to 75.2 QB rating).
Nothing I can say will change your mind about Flacco. Someone less biased than you are would clearly see my point.

Yeah because 20% isn't statistically significant or anything.

Some folks have a bad habit of being ignorant to relevant and pertinent analysis.

But hey please continue to discuss "joey" flacco. I am sure you will do so on an even, fair basis, without bias.

you brought no analysis to this thread, you started comparing flacco to ryan and completely ignored the topic of this thread.

    this was your best analysis
Go to any Falcons forum and see the myriad of threads about Ryan underperforming.
