Re: Bobby Rainey named NFC offensive player of the week
I knew it was a mistake to release him. Stupid Ravens Front Office.

Re: Bobby Rainey named NFC offensive player of the week
I don't know if you're serious or not. I absolutely believe it was a mistake to cut him, and I said so at the time. I don't, however, think it makes the FO stupid; I just think it was a stupid move by the FO. They clearly have more hits than misses, though, so in the big picture I don't consider them to be a stupid front office at all. Even excellent FOs, which the Ravens are, make mistakes. And this, IMO, was one of them.

Re: Bobby Rainey named NFC offensive player of the week
Did the Ravens release him to protect Ray Rice???
I felt that Rainey was an upgrade on Rice, and he was exiled so it wasn't so apparent how bad Ray Rice is
I bet Rainey is 1/3 second faster than Ray Rice in 40yd dash.

Re: Bobby Rainey named NFC offensive player of the week
Just look at who they signed to be the #3 back afer they let Rainey go.
Bernard Scott and Shaun Draughn.
Both are smaller, quick, speedy backs with good return and receiving skills. Guess what Rainey has?Disclaimer: The content posted is of my own opinion.

Re: Bobby Rainey named NFC offensive player of the week
I got ripped when I suggested that Rainey displayed the explosiveness that Rice "used to" display. People came on here and said: "What do you mean USED TO display?" And then there were the posts that said we didn't need Rainey because he was too similar in his running style to Rice, as if a team can't have enough good running backs with the same style. Then there were the people who said Rainey hadn't really shown anything and that he was just a "pre season" wonder who really didn't prove he could run with the first teamers. And so it goes. (I guess next we'll hear from people saying the Ravens didn't have the roster space for Rainey; the Ravens don't have a crystal ball to predict how someone will pan out (see Post #5), etc.)
(Whether or not the Ravens cut Rainey to protect Rice is an interesting question. We'll never know. All I know is I liked what I saw in Rainey, and apparently so did Ray Rice's former college head coach.)

Re: Bobby Rainey named NFC offensive player of the week
Rainey's attitude in the preseason was refreshing, along with his productivity. Of course, he never would have been used in our complex offensive scheme. Major screw up.

Re: Bobby Rainey - In retrospect, a mistake?
Deonte Thompson and Torrey are relatively the same height and weight. Both are also speedy, vertical threat receivers.
Torrey starts. Thompson barely plays.
Why keep Thompson then by that logic?
