    Re: Drinking: An Irsay Tradition

Yea. Remember Glazer said the buck stops here. That was after he got the Bucs and was a shot at us because none of us wanted him. Hell, we had two groups and then he came flying in as a carpet bagger.

Anyway, after saying that, when Moag took the stadium money off the table 3 teams jumped for it - Browns, Bucs and Cardinals. Moag wanted Art because he was the best owner and had a storied franchise like the Colts.

So Glazer kept calling Moag who refused his calls telling his secretary to say I'm out. Then when Art signed, Glazer was pissed as hell.

Payback was sweet for Moag. :)

The young guys don't even remember Moag, it's all Bisciotti but he wouldn't be here w/o Moag getting us the team. He gave the NFL 30 days to take his package or he was taking it off the table. Brilliant move by new Guv
Glendenning. He did in 1 month what Scaheffer couldn't do
in 8 years. Get us a team.

My dad lived in Aberdeen and Unitas had a house there too. My dad would see Unitas mowing his own grass. Later on my dad got a job as a bus boy at some restaurant and many members of the Colts were "regulars." I don't remember the name of the restaurant, I'll have to ask him, but other posters might already know which restaurant I'm talking about. They might've had the same experience. Remember, nobody would be so damn bitter if the Colts didn't have an equally positive impact on their life, and in many cases their childhood. Not many 80 year old posters on message boards.

Not to say that there aren't Ravens in the community today. But it was just different back then.

Also they got to listen to absurdly brilliant music and watch similarly spectacular movies. I discovered this new album earlier this week from 1967, "It's a beautiful day" by "It's a beautiful Day." My goodness, the most amazing album I've ever heard in my life. This band is outrageously talented and dynamic, even as talented as Roxy Music, Pink Floyd, Velvet Underground, David Bowie, King Crimson, etc. Notice a pattern in my list? All the music listed is what poor ol' Colts fans got to see live at concerts, music that echoed the time that America was living through. Now the music and movies have sharply declined. There's no compariso. But there ARE good bands and actors today, don't get me wrong. MGMT is a superb band, and there are tons of spectacular actors like Tom Hanks, Bryan Cranston, and Joaquin Phoenix.

(One odd thing though is that the TV shows today are every bit as good as in the past. Breaking Bad, Curb your Enthusiasm, Modern Family, The Wonder Years, Freaks and Geeks, etc)

You forgot to mention the good 'ole Grateful Dead, bro. And I hear you on Atom Heart Mother, though Animals is my favorite Floyd album. Those two bands, hands down, put on the greatest concerts EVER.

Now I need to go listen to Dupree's Diamonds Blues.

And YES, YES had some of the best concerts. Actually, they STILL have great concerts.

How bout Queen - We are the champions of the world.

The beat of the tune drives you nuts.

The Ravens are still this, not for long but still this.

In his last court fight, the old man's bitch tried to take the team from him but he won but she got the ranch. Jimmy even returned expensive jewelry the old man bought her as power of atty. The old man tried to fire Jimmy but it was too late. He was already deemed mentally incapable of handling his own affairs by the court and Jimmy was his guardian.

That said, the bitch still got two seats in the sky box and I read where JImmy put a partition down the middle of it so he wouldn't have to see her.

I've been getting into Blues since I go into iTunes and don't like any of the new releases. Love North Mississippi Blues and BB King and Billie Holliday.

Check out the Alligator records Blues compilations. Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, Junior Wells, Hound Dog Taylor, Albert Collins, Robert Cray, Charlie Musselwhite, Mavis Staples, and my favorite, Delbert McClinton.

    Great stuff.

    Ok, thanks Ed.

Just got a new iPHone and I'm down loading the old stuff plus some new
    tunes from iTunes.

Eric Clapton had some great blues albums and sang with BB King and Bonnie Raitt ain't bad either. Got one of her CDs.

Irsay is at it again. LOL

    http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/10...-colts-wake-up

He's like that guy who just got home from the bar at 2 AM and starts drunk dialing his buddy's or females looking to score..
