Well, whaddya know - Joe runs for a 1st down!

3rd & 5; 13:48; 3Q in the Miami game. Joe breaks out of the pocket and picks up 14 yds. & a 1st down. I for one would like to see this happen more often. I don't expect Cam Newton, but especially on days the offense is struggling, I'd like to see Joe pick up some yardage w/ his feet. Maybe 15-25 yds a game, in situations that might otherwise be a sack or QH forced incompletion (or worse). I know his eschewal of running is a part of why he has stayed healthy and started so many consecutive games, but he's a big guy who's getting hit a lot any way after/as/before he throws. How 'bout a dash to the sidelines or a slide to the stick once or twice a game? Right now defenses hardly have to worry about containing him on dropbacks. I'm not calling him soft by any means. I saw him hobble for a 12yd/1st down pick up to the sidelines when he was playing on a twisted ankle in the frozen Wild Card beatdown in New England.

Maybe I'm just that guy who yells at major league hitters who won't (or worse CAN'T) bunt when the opposing team gives it to you... but run, Joey, run [at least now & again]!

    What do you all think?

I'm fine with the amount of running Joe is doing right now. I've seen too many QBs take hits then miss time due to injury while running with the ball.

I am quite ok if that's his only rushing first down of the season.

He's not particularly fast and I don't want him exposed that much.

The issue is that the running lanes haven't always been clear for Joe. Since the tackles have been struggling, mainly McKinnie, along with the interior push he's been dealing with, defenses have been boxing him in.

Joe Flacco might be faster than Ray Rice at this point in their careers.

Hard to run anywhere when you have a bunch of turnstiles in front of you giving free passes to any defensive player.

Flacco is a lot faster than people give him credit for.

John Beck had a faster 40 time. Let that sink in for a second.

It's not all about the 40 time. Flacco moves around pretty good. I'm not saying he's fast, but he moves a lot better than guys like Brady or Peyton.

Jacoby ran a 4.5 40, and he obviously outruns a lot of people.

Brady and Peyton are pretty low bars.

Yes, he runs faster then those two. But so does my 3 month old daughter.
