Report: League to Move Draft to May, Change Start of League Year to Before Combine

Tentative date of next years draft to be May 15th.

This looks to be a trial run for next year and if it works, it will stay.

Eh, not sure I like this. By the time April 25th rolls around, I'm dying for some Football coverage and the draft satisfies me Football thirst until about July, then Training Camp has started :word

1,000 more mock drafts (?) perhaps spoil Mother's Day, if they move to a Sunday too (?) maybe the Preakness (?) Anyhow, it's a bad idea IMO ... Bc

Another perspective is it gives teams almost an entire extra month to scout, assess, and work free agency.

I like it. I especially like that the new league year will start before the combine and not in March. This will force teams to have to make decisions a little quicker on players and figure out the cap. IMO, that alone could make free agency much more unique.

Well, they made a section specifically for draft talk, mocks, and scouting reports.

So, if you want to avoid all of those pesky mocks...just don't go to that section of the forum.

Draft time is always a huge wait for me, and now they made it worse! Don't like this move at all!

This headed the wrong direction. I would have preferred seeing the draft moved up a few weeks to permit coaches more time to assess their new players.

I was actually kind of hoping to see the draft come right after the combine too. I like that they moved the league year up...but after thinking about it, I kind of wish that the draft came in early March rather than in May. Then after the draft, you have free agency.
