And you are entitled to your opinion just like I am, but he is a lot better than 2nd string material.
The point man, is he's Michael Huff. IDK if its because the Ravens are interested in him, now he all of a sudden becomes a great FS, or a solid player. Michael Huff is Captain inconsistent. Its that simple. I wouldn't want him on this team, If they do sign him, I'm cool, because i learned a long time ago to not question Ozzie. That said, based on what he's done in the past. I say give one of the young guys a chance instead of signing him. Thompson... Omar Brown. Draft a guy. IDK there are better options out there than Michael Huff.

Are you sure you're talking about the same guy as I am? He's been a pretty damn solid safety in the NFL. Yeah he's not an all pro player, and not a future HOF like Reed is, but he is certainly A LOT better than what you're giving credit for. And if you actually read what others have said, as soon as Huff got released, a lot of this board were begging Ozzie to look at him way before the reported interest.

He is strong against the Run, and he is a pass Rush specialist. It would improve our defence Greatly.

A pass rush generated by a healthy Suggs from one side and Dumervil from the other could mask a lot of deficiencies with the defense. Also, the additions of Canty and Spears would look much better in that they are both known as good run stoppers.

Lol no, Dumerville is not strong against the run by any means. I really hope we get him, he's a very good pass rusher, but Upshaw will be the one doing that job. He is not a very good run support player/edge setter at all.

Like i said he's not a bad player, he is just inconsistent is all. If we want inconsistent, we might as well put a young guy in there. At-least he has the excuse of being young. I just think if we are going to downgrade, we might as well downgrade with a young guy, who could always get better.

Klis adds that an NFL source has informed him that the Ravens are negotiating with Dumervil.

Not a bad player is a second stringer then?

Did you watch the same Ed Reed as I did last year? He really struggled in a lot of aspects of the game, and has been declining through the last couple of seasons, its arguable that Huff could be an upgrade from Reed of 2012. Again, agree to disagree, your evaluation of Huff is certainly a lot different than mine.

He's better in coverage, but the scouting reports I read say he's merely above average as a cover safety, and certainly not anything special. Over his seven seasons, his INT totals are 3-3-2-2-1-0-0.

    Help me understand this one.
The game is moving away from thumpers and more to coverage at S, Pollard was below average in coverage and Huff would be an upgrade. The thumping Safety with the defenseless WR rule is going the way of the drop kick. Expect to see more CB's to moved to S with the rule changes added to the fact that RB's can't lower their helmets to hit once past the LOS. Safety is a changing position and Pollard doesn't fit it anymore, slow in coverage and oft penalized. Ozzie realizes this.

Where did you get that from?? He's no Reggie White, but to say he isn't strong against the Run is well, a tad misleading. He is on the field Every down. He is a very capable Run Stopper. That whole Bronco's D was suspect against the Run.

He is a capable player in run support, but he is not Courtney Upshaw or Terrell Suggs or James Harrison at setting the edge either. He is an extremely good pass rusher, very explosive, and I would kill to have him in Baltimore.

Oh no doubt, Dumervil isn't the greatest against the Run, that has been documented, but i think with the right defensive players around him, he can be "capable". I guess when you say he isn't "strong" vs the Run, it implies that he is very bad, but I see what you're getting at. Upshaw is arguably, after one season a top 5 run defender at OLB, he will only get better. Sizzle well.. If he's healthy, he is the best All around OLB in the league. All that being said. Dumervil, can come in and replace Kruger to the 10th power, and be a lot better at the run than Kruger ever was.

I agree, and when I said "not strong" I didn't mean it like he was totally incapable and bad, just not the strongest in the world, probably due to his size.
