Add More to Coach Harbaugh's accolades...
This week's Byrne Identity. In a word...awesome:
http://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/...b-7caa87b9e4dd
"We are so proud to stand together. Let me tell you what the people said in New Orleans. The real people – the ones working with us at the hotel, the police who escorted us. They said they had never witnessed a group of men like you. They said you treated them with class and dignity and with humor. They said you showed interest in them. They've worked with many other NFL teams and college teams playing in Sugar Bowls.
"But, they said you were the best they ever worked with – the Baltimore Ravens were the best people," Harbs said..
.
“When I think of a Baltimore Raven - we go in there, we take your lunch box, we take your sandwich, we take your juice box, we take your applesauce, and we take your spork and we break it. And we leave you with an empty lunch. That’s the Baltimore Raven way.” - Steve Smith Sr.
Call me a Special Teams coach again. I dare you! I double dare you, MFer!

Re: Add More to Coach Harbaugh's accolades...
I was wondering when the next edition of the Bryne Identity would surface. This is what struck me about the article and why I'm proud to be part of Ravenation and I had not even noticed you copied/pasted it already. Our reputation as a first class organization follow us everywhere we go.
Next year there's no Ray and now more than ever Harbs will have to lead without Ray as his wingman and I have no doubt he'll handle that challenge.

Final team huddle
Byrne Identity: Go Inside Ravens Final Team Huddle
The line that struck me most was "So, when you all are in training camp, and I'm on that fishing boat in the ocean, let me know if you want me to send you a speech, because I ain't coming to give it." We all laughed as Ray turned to hug Harbs.
I know it was said in a jokingly manner, but I get the feeling that was another one of Ray's challenge to the guys that will still be a Raven this coming up season. We all know Ray will be there from time to time giving speeches before some games. It's going to happen. But I think this was Ray's way of telling the guys to man up a little bit more and continue their legacy, not for him, but for themselves. They guys all know Ray won't be there next season, but I bet it won't hit them until training camp starts and he's not out there with them.

Re: Add More to Coach Harbaugh's accolades...
I tell you what - this stuff starts at the top. There are reasons why great organizations remain great and why others continue to flounder. As long as the management team of Bisciotti >> Newsome >> Harbaugh are in command, the Ravens will always be a respected organization. Teams that do things ethically and that create cultures built on respect and class will always persevere. It's easy to see this all across sports. Let's hope the Orioles follow suit.

What a contrast to his brother, who was an embarrassment to his family, the 49er organization, and the SF Bay Area fans with his sideline behavior and continual post-game whining.
In a 2003 BBC poll that asked Brits to name the "Greatest American Ever", Mr. T came in fourth, behind ML King (3rd), Abe Lincoln (2nd) and Homer Simpson (1st).

If you watch the SoundFX and other videos he whined the whole game. I understand bias but he is over the top.
I think I heard him say after tha game on 3rd and 9 ( I think) he didn't think it was a PI on Culliver who was mugging Torrey the whole way down the field.
What ever dude.

Re: Add More to Coach Harbaugh's accolades...
To be fair, John Harbaugh has a tendency to whine at officials DURING the game. You can see this on some of the Sound FX...namely, re-watch the first Harbowl, on Thanksgiving. The refs are joking with John and Jim, realizing how alike they are in yelling at the refs.
The difference is that John remains generally calm throughout the game, and he doesn't air his laundry in public. If he's upset with an official after the game, he says what he's supposed to..

I will say this about Jim...he better win. With his ego, the only way San Fran is going to tolerate him is if he wins.

Working the refs is every head coach's job. But there's a right way and a wrong way to do it. John does it right. He asks them to explain calls, he questions them, and occasionally he tells them they screwed up. That gets you an official's respect, and maybe, it makes him a tiny bit more likely to call things your way.
Jim whines and bitches from whistle to whistle. (And then post whistle.) All that gets you is funny memes on the Internet and a reputation as a cry baby.My motto was always to keep swinging. Whether I was in a slump or feeling badly or having trouble off the field, the only thing to do was keep swinging. -Hank Aaron
